Job Title:
Maintenance Technician Job Description The Maintenance Technician supports the reliable operation of production equipment and machinery within a manufacturing facility. This role focuses on maintaining and repairing mechanical and electrical systems, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring equipment runs safely and efficiently to minimize downtime. Responsibilities Maintain and repair conveyors, extruders, bearings, and other production equipment to ensure consistent and reliable operation. Tear down, inspect, and troubleshoot machines to identify root causes of mechanical and electrical issues. Perform welding on stainless steel and steel components as needed for equipment repair and fabrication. Carry out routine greasing, lubrication, and other preventive maintenance tasks according to established schedules. Complete preventive maintenance (PM) schedules accurately and on time, documenting all work performed. Troubleshoot and repair basic electrical issues, including wiring and 220v systems, in accordance with safety standards. Diagnose equipment failures quickly and perform effective repairs to reduce downtime and maintain production flow. Inspect equipment regularly to identify wear, potential failures, and safety concerns before they impact operations. Collaborate with production and other maintenance team members to prioritize work orders and support operational needs. Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working on mechanical and electrical systems and using welding equipment. Essential Skills Hands-on experience maintaining equipment or machines in a manufacturing environment (preferred). Mechanical aptitude with the ability to maintain and repair conveyors, extruders, bearings, and related machinery. Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical and basic electrical issues on production equipment. Ability to perform wiring tasks and work with 220v electrical systems safely. Experience performing preventive maintenance, including greasing, lubrication, and routine inspections. Ability to tear down, rebuild, and reassemble machines and mechanical components. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose root causes of equipment failures. Ability to read, complete, and document preventive maintenance schedules and work orders accurately. Basic understanding of maintenance safety practices when working with mechanical, electrical, and welding equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Welding experience with stainless steel and steel (preferred). Experience working as a maintenance technician or industrial mechanic in a manufacturing setting. Familiarity with conveyors, extruders, and other common manufacturing equipment. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple tasks. Strong communication skills to coordinate with production and maintenance teams. Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation as needed. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a manufacturing facility with a dirty, hands-on environment where you will work directly on production equipment and machinery. The standard schedule runs Monday through Thursday from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM, providing a four-day workweek. The position includes participation in an on-call rotation approximately once every two months to support urgent maintenance needs. You will work around conveyors, extruders, mechanical systems, and 220v electrical equipment, using tools and welding equipment as part of your daily tasks. Appropriate work attire is needed for a dirty industrial setting, with adherence to all required safety and personal protective equipment guidelines. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Otsego, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $38.00/hr.
