We're looking to hire a talented Maintenance Technician based in Traverse City, Michigan. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician helps power our manufacturing success by keeping our equipment operating at its best. This role focuses on proactive maintenance, problem solving, and continuous improvement to support optimal productivity throughout the facility. Primary Duties- Perform work in a safe manner following all EH&S procedures and reporting EH&S concerns.
- Follow all established procedures and regulations when handling hazardous waste.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical systems and equipment.
- Perform all tasks necessary to keep the plant equipment, building, and grounds, in good working order.
- Work on new equipment and facility projects, including creative design work and new installations under the supervision of plant engineering.
- Perform monthly preventative maintenance on machinery.
- Responsible use of company equipment.
- Support and participate in corporate initiatives that improve overall business performance as needed such as lean, EH&S, etc. Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent with Proficient Math Skills
- Ability to accurately read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and electrical schematics.
- Must have experience in multi-meter, pumps, electric motors, electric solenoids, and pneumatic cylinders.
- Lathe and mill experience a plus.
- Computer skills a plus.
- Proven history of problem-solving capability.
- Ability to keep neat and accurate records.
- Ability to drive and operate an industrial fork truck.
- Ability to work independently with little direction.
- Must be able to work at least 10 hours per day and be willing to work overtime as needed. Working Conditions
- Physical ability to maneuver 300 to 600-pound spools of wire on the floor, lift 60 pounds and pull with up to 40 pounds of force to pull wire.
- Ability to do physically demanding work such as squatting, bending, kneeling and twisting.
- General mechanical abilities, including machining, welding, plumbing, and electrical wiring.
- Must wear Personal Protective Equipment 'PPE' as designated by EH&S programs in the facility.
- The Maintenance Technician works both inside and outside the plant in all seasons and conditions.
