Job Description

Maintenance Electrician Responsibilities Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems operating at 480V, 277V, 240V, and 120V. Diagnose and repair motors, motor starters, variable frequency drives (VFDs), motor control centers (MCCs), transformers, breakers, and control panels. Perform proper Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and verify zero-energy states before starting work. Read and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and panel layouts to support installation and troubleshooting activities. Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment, including input/output (I/O), power supplies, and communication issues. Identify faults in control logic and collaborate with engineering and controls teams to resolve complex automation and control problems. Conduct preventive maintenance on electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to minimize unplanned downtime. Install and maintain conduit, wiring, and related electrical infrastructure in accordance with applicable codes and standards. Use electrical test equipment such as multimeters, meggers, and clamp meters to diagnose and verify system performance. Essential Skills 5+ years of industrial electrical experience, preferably in chemical or process manufacturing environments. Proficiency in installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting 480V, 277V, 240V, and 120V electrical systems. Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair motors, motor starters, VFDs, MCCs, transformers, breakers, and control panels. Strong skills in reading and interpreting electrical drawings, control schematics, and single-line diagrams. Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment, including I/O, power supplies, and communication issues. Familiarity with Allen-Bradley platforms such as ControlLogix, CompactLogix, PLC-5, and SLC 500, or Siemens PLC systems. Solid understanding and consistent application of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and verification of zero-energy states. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role operates in a dirty and hot industrial environment where safety and protective measures are critical. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required at all times, including hazmat suits, respirators, safety boots, and safety glasses. The position follows 2nd and 3rd shift schedules, supporting continuous operations. Daily end-of-shift showers are required, and the employer provides on-site shower facilities and supplies to support hygiene and safety. Mandatory respirator use reflects a strong PPE program and adherence to strict safety protocols. Participation in bi-monthly blood draws is part of ongoing safety monitoring, underscoring the emphasis on health and exposure control in this setting.
