Job Description

The Maintenance Technician supports the Equipment Department by maintaining the overall quality, safety, and maintenance of all equipment, vessels, and the shipyard.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Upholds the Company's commitment to an injury-free workplace; leads and models safe work practices Follows all safety rules and regulations as well as all company policies and procedures Works safely around machinery; observes and instructs others in proper equipment use; uses/wears all required PPE Ensures team members are provided a safe work environment and are knowledgeable of safe work practices and policies Supports and assists with engine and mechanical repairs on engines and gearboxes Provides mechanical and equipment support during dredge pump and thrust bearing change-outs Responsible for all yard equipment maintenance and routines Works with Lead Electrician on electrical maintenance and repairs Manages yard logistics and materials for welders and any needs from the Dredge Chiefs Works with Port Chief to learn and develop skills to independently overhaul tender boat engines and gearboxes Troubleshoots issues on Tender boats with the Port Chief Creates and completes work orders in ZOHO Completes Daily Logs Assists in any yard repairs of equipment, along with any needed repairs from the dredges
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or equivalent Ability to travel with overnight stays when necessary Trained in Lock/Out Tag Out Procedures, Fall Arrest, Confined Space and Ladder Safety (on-the-job training also provided in these areas) Basic computer skills-MS Office email, word processing, spreadsheet (a plus) Ability to prioritize projects and repairs Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing Must have excellent communication skills and communicate effectively with supervisors and all other personnel Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position as outlined in the Functional Job Description Must be able to successfully pass all pre-employment screening (drug test, fit test) in addition to random drug and alcohol testing Candidates must meet the minimum requirements to be considered.
