Job Title:
Maintenance Technician Job Description The Maintenance Technician maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs all plant equipment, buildings, and grounds in a highly automated industrial environment. The role is approximately 60% mechanical and 40% electrical, with a strong focus on hydraulic systems and support of a large number of robots and associated production equipment. The technician ensures equipment reliability, supports safe plant operations, and completes both corrective and preventive maintenance in a timely and compliant manner. Responsibilities Repair and maintain all plant equipment, buildings, and grounds to support safe and efficient operations. Diagnose and resolve issues on hydraulic systems, which make up the majority of equipment problems on site. Troubleshoot and repair pumps, valves, relief valves, hoses, cylinders, conveyor belts, chains, motors, gears, and related mechanical components. Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems including VFDs, transformers, 480V, 240V single-phase, and 3-phase power. Install 3-phase electrical systems and properly run conduit and wire to support new or modified equipment. Observe mechanical devices in operation and listen for abnormal sounds to identify the root cause of equipment malfunctions. Dismantle equipment and components to access and remove defective parts safely and efficiently. Inspect used parts to determine wear, dimensional changes, and replacement needs. Adjust and calibrate functional parts of devices, machines, and control instruments to restore proper operation. Repair or replace defective parts, lubricate and clean machines, and restore equipment to service. Start and test machines after repair to verify proper performance and reliability. Repair electrical equipment and control systems in accordance with applicable standards and safety procedures. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities in compliance with applicable quality procedures. Conduct plant-wide safety checks on equipment to identify potential hazards and ensure safe operation. Complete maintenance request forms and document all work performed in a clear and timely manner. Perform preventive maintenance tasks and accurately complete PM books and documentation once work is finished. Follow safety standards and procedures in accordance with OSHA and ANSI regulations, including lockout/tagout requirements. Complete requisitions with proper approvals for maintenance items and parts needed to repair equipment. Ensure timely completion of all maintenance repairs to machinery and equipment to minimize downtime. Repair and perform preventive maintenance on all auxiliary equipment and properly tag equipment upon completion. Troubleshoot electrical issues safely up to 480V. Support and maintain the operation of robots and automated equipment within the facility. Collaborate with team members and production staff to prioritize work orders and support production goals. Essential Skills At least 4 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or similar environment. High school diploma or GED. Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in industrial equipment maintenance. Proficiency working with hydraulic systems, including troubleshooting and repair. Experience with pneumatic systems and components. Ability to troubleshoot pumps, valves, relief valves, hoses, cylinders, conveyor belts, chains, motors, and gears. Experience working with 480V systems and 3-phase power. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics. Experience running conduit and pulling wire for industrial electrical installations. Experience troubleshooting VFDs, transformers, 480V, 240V single-phase, and 3-phase systems. Ability to perform electrical troubleshooting safely up to 480V. Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices and documentation. Ability to follow OSHA and ANSI safety regulations, including proper lockout/tagout procedures. Ability to wear and use required personal protective equipment, including steel toe footwear. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Attention to detail in maintaining accurate maintenance and quality records. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with plastics injection molding or injection molding machinery. Experience working in a facility with a significant number of robots or automated equipment. Fabrication skills, including the ability to modify or repair equipment components as needed. PLC troubleshooting experience or exposure to PLC-controlled systems. Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment. Ability to work overtime and weekends as production and maintenance needs require. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a non-climate-controlled industrial facility that operates on multiple shifts. This position is scheduled Sunday through Thursday, with current Saturday work and overtime as needed to support production demands. The third shift runs from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., and candidates must be comfortable working weekends and extended hours. The environment includes a high number of robots and automated equipment, as well as hydraulic, pneumatic, and high-voltage electrical systems. Work involves regular use of industrial tools, machinery, and test equipment, along with adherence to strict safety procedures, including lockout/tagout. Steel toe footwear is required, and standard industrial attire suitable for a manufacturing setting is expected. Second and third shifts offer a shift differential once you move into a direct role. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Clyde, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $35.00/hr.
