07/01/2025 SUMMARY Maintains and repairs mechanical systems, boiler systems, water plant and lift station. Assembles, installs, and repairs pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems. Independent responsibilities while on call to make decisions on daily and emergency situations. Supports and assists St. Charles and Pretty Eagle maintenance staff by performing the following duties.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assembles and installs valves, pipe fittings, and pipes composed of metals, such as iron, steel, brass, and lead, and nonmetals, such as glass, vitrified clay, and plastic. 2. Fills pipe system with water or air and reads pressure gauges to determine whether system is leaking. 3. Installs and repairs plumbing fixtures such as sinks, commodes, bathtubs, water heaters, hot water tanks, garbage disposal units, dishwashers, and water softeners. 4. Repairs and maintains plumbing by replacing washers in leaky faucets, mending burst pipes, and opening clogged drains. 5. Maintains, repairs, or replaces components of mechanical equipment, water, sewer, heating, furnaces, and boiler systems. 6. Routinely checks possible trouble areas and repairs or replaces any abnormal equipment or conditions. 7. Tests water in the water plant. 8. Ensures compliance with all regulatory state, federal, and local agencies. 9. Responds to all emergencies; fire, floods, power outages, and all situations that support the minimum requirements for operating St. Labre as a safe institution. 10. Performs maintenance, repairs and troubleshoots heating ventilating and air conditioning equipment. 11. Troubleshoots controls of electronic and electrical nature in conjunction with assigned work. 12. Performs minor to complex repairs to facility infrastructure. 13. Operate various types of heavy equipment when need arises. 14. Performs basic to complex carpentry/locksmithing skills. 15. Performs electrical repairs within the regulations of the State of Montana. 16. Performs positive customer service to all staff, vendors, visitors, etc. while supporting the mission and values of St. Labre. 17. Performs on-call duties when required. 18. Substitutes for Warehouse Clerk as needed. 19. May have to travel to outlying schools and locations as required for the job.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and six months to one year related experience and/or training required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 1.
Ability to interact positively with students, faculty, staff, and the general public. 2. Will be required to be on-call after training is completed. Must respond to on-call emergencies within 30 minutes or reasonable period of time to limit damage to buildings and safety to patrons. 3. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 4. Mechanical aptitude. 5. Ability to calculate figures and amounts. 6. Ability to read, interpret and understand reasonably simple to complex blueprints and schematics for both electrical and mechanical systems. 7. Must possess ability to make common sense decisions consistently. 8. Must be willing to obtain required and preferred licenses within a reasonable amount of time. 9. Respects the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ in private, personal, and public life. 10. Commitment to the mission of the Roman Catholic Church in Native American education. 11. Sensitivity to, and appreciation of Native American people and their cultures. 12. Ability to serve as an appropriate role model for students.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED
Valid Montana driver's license. UST Operator Certification Class C. CPO Certified Pool Operator. Low pressure boiler license, will provide in-house training. Water or waste-water license (3A, 4B, 4C), will provide in-house training.PREFERRED
Universal CFC refrigerant practices license. Forklift Certification, in-house training.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
