Job Description

Job Summary Join our Township Road Department as a Maintenance Worker dedicated to keeping local roads safe, accessible, and well-maintained. In this vital role, you will operate a variety of heavy equipment and perform construction, repair, and maintenance tasks across township roadways and infrastructure. Your efforts will directly contribute to the safety and quality of life for residents and visitors alike. This position offers an engaging opportunity to work outdoors, utilize your construction skills, and be part of a team committed to community service. This position will stay open until filled. Responsibilities Operate heavy machinery including dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, dump trucks, and front loader trucks to perform road construction, repair, and maintenance projects. Conduct paving operations to ensure smooth and durable roadway surfaces. Perform construction site activities such as excavation, grading, ditching, and drainage improvements with precision and safety in mind. Assist in utilize utility locating tools to identify underground utilities before excavation or construction work begins. Assist with the maintenance and repair township roads, shoulders, culverts, signage, and other infrastructure components. Assist with general maintenance tasks on equipment and tools to ensure operational readiness. Follow safety protocols diligently while working on construction sites or operating heavy equipment in various weather conditions. Perform maintenance and repair on Township buildings. Maintain Township property to include mowing around buildings and Township Roads. Must be able to be on call as needed for emergencies. Skills Proven experience operating heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, dump trucks, and front loader trucks. Strong knowledge of construction practices related to roadway repair and paving projects. Ability to read construction plans and utility maps accurately. Familiarity with utility locating techniques using specialized tools and equipment. Ability to stand for long periods of time and assist in flagging operations. Experience working on construction sites with a focus on safety standards and procedures. Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to follow detailed instructions and work independently when needed. $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
