MAINTENANCE WORKER
PRIMARYRESPONSIBILITIES
To help maintain the physical school plant and grounds in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use may be made at all times. Perform skilled general maintenance assignments in the mechanical or building trades and grounds keeping. Maintain and repair equipment, facilities, and machinery. Assist other maintenance personnel in completion of work orders or assignments.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent One to three years of satisfactory employment in general maintenance and/or related skilled trade Physically able to perform the essential functions, with or without reasonable accommodations, of the everyday responsibilities including lifting materials weighing up to 50 pounds and the ability to climb ladders in excess of 15 feet as well as erect scaffolding, plus utilization of back mounted vacuums. Various lifts, tools and mechanical means of assistance should be employed for lifting heavier supplies, equipment and material. Basic knowledge of mowing and grounds operation including experience in using hand tools, rakes, shovels, pruning equipment, and wheel barrows. Experience in the repair of mechanical equipment including mowers and chain saws. Knowledge of safety procedures and rules for the proper operation of mechanical equipment associated with grounds work. Hold and maintain a valid Virginia Driver's License or a Commercial Driver's License. Must be available to respond to emergencies, including after hour emergencies. Able to read, understand, and apply written instructions, including work procedures, product labels, material safety data sheets, and equipment instruction manuals.REPORTS TO

Assists in the operation, maintenance, repair, replacement and installation of school property Assists in the repairing, replacing parts of electrical and wiring devices, plumbing lines and fixtures Assists in assigned painting projects Assists with moving school equipment and supplies between school locations. Assists in repairing or replacement of carpeting, tile, fences Performs grounds maintenance: mowing, snow-ice removal Operates maintenance tools and equipment Maintains tools, equipment and supplies in accordance with standards Attends work daily and be engaged and on task Performs overtime work and other duties as required Reports needed repairs. Executes rules and regulations and safety rules. Maintains operating records as requested. Understands and performs basic boiler and rooftop unit maintenance and operation. Responds and assists during emergency situations including but not limited to inclement weather assignments, vandalism and emergency repairs. Performs other work-related duties as assigned.PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES
Extensive physical activity; bend, stoop, squat, and reach, lifting 25-75 pounds frequently; lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing, between 75-125 pounds on occasion; successful candidate must submit to post offer pre-employment physical exam and medical history check.PHYSICAL DEMANDS

250-day/8hr day contract. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.EVALUATION
