Full Job Description Description:
The DOT Compliance Manager will collaborate with both new and existing CDL and non-CDL employees, ensuring full compliance with local, state, and federal DOT regulations. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of DOT and FMCSA requirements, combined with a proactive mindset to innovate, streamline, and simplify compliance processes. This role reports directly to the Director of Safety & Compliance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee and maintain Driver Qualification Files for CDL and non-CDL drivers, ensuring all required documents and endorsements are accurate, valid, and up to date. Manage compliance activities, including annual Clearinghouse queries, random drug screenings, DOT verifications, and MVR monitoring. Monitor and review drivers' Hours of Service (HOS) to ensure adherence to regulations. Provide guidance and coaching to drivers on safe driving practices and compliance with procedures. Coordinate closely with operations to ensure alignment of routine activities Partner closely with the Truck Shop or Truck Lease Vendor(s) to address OOS/Unsafe deficiencies Conduct regular audits to verify all required documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant. submission requirements Assist with integration efforts during acquisitions to maintain compliance standards. Stay current on changes in DOT regulations and implement necessary updates to maintain compliance. Review DOT documentation for accuracy and validity during the onboarding process and assist with pre-employment screenings as needed. Perform other tasks as assigned to support the Safety & Compliance team.
Requirements:
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE
At least 1+ years of high-volume Driver Qualification File management.
PREFERRED EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in industrial safety and health or safety management preferred; equivalent experience will be considered. Any compliance Certifications to include, but not limited to: CSS, CHMM, CFCC, and/or
TRS. SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Experience supporting FMCSA motor carrier in maintaining DOT compliance Knowledgeable with multi-state DOT compliance highly preferred Thorough knowledge of Safety, DOT and OSHA regulations and compliance Experience with Tenstreet, and Samsara a plus Proficiency with Word and Excel required Able to communicate effectively with multiple people throughout the company Excellent organizational and time management skills 5+ years of experience as OTR or Drayage CDL licensed driver preferred
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is generally performed in a warehouse environment. The noise level is moderate. Generally, well ventilated, and well lit. Warehouse team members may be required to wear protective clothing. Additionally, may operate heavy equipment and strict safety regulations may be required.
PHYSICAL EFFORT
Work is physically strenuous and team members are required to lift heavy packages up to 50 pounds. Work may require excessive bending or stooping. Team members may be required to climb ladders, use hand tools, and/or use heavy machinery (e.g., forklift, etc.). The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Light duty options may be available.
