A Brief Overview The Manager, Investment Accounting manages the analysis and preparation of the appropriate investment accounting for various asset classes, performs managerial duties or reviewing work related to assigned processes and to develop and mentor associates, recommends and participates in the development and implementation of process improvements that may extend beyond the area of oversight. What you will do Work with Business Lead to develop areas of focus for accounting, process or reporting improvements. Gathers information to accurately understand and summarize issues, evaluates risk and challenges, works collaboratively to propose recommendations and works to implement approved changes. Perform accounting functions and maintains and prepares month-end, quarter-end and annual files (GAAP, STAT & IFRS) for assigned asset and investment accounting areas. Provide support to business segments, Investments and other interested parties to ensure that all items are processed appropriately on the various investment accounting systems. Coordinate and summarize investment information for internal and external examiners. Research, review and analyze investment data/reports, provides solutions to resolve issues, and prepares reports. Provide support to Executive Director, as needed, including special projects as well as direct supervision of Investment Accounting Analysts and/or Senior Investment Accountants and indirect supervision of other associates in the department. Perform supervisory duties, including, but not limited to hiring, training, evaluating, coaching, and disciplining direct reports. Fosters a positive and engaged work environment. Mentor associates and gives guidance on associate development. Maintain working relationships with external contacts which includes investment advisors, investment accounting managers, external/internal examiners and with internal departments. Work with other functional areas in RGA to achieve efficient and effective accounting and reporting practices and procedures and responds to and requests from other functional areas on various inquiries. Education and Experience Required Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent related work experience 12+ years accounting or auditing experience with at least 7 years of investment accounting experience and advanced experience in Statutory and GAAP accounting Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Accounting/Finance or equivalent related work experience required 5+ years accounting or auditing experience Some supervisory/management experience Preferred 1+ Years Insurance accounting experience (statutory) Skills and Abilities Required Basic Word, intermediate Excel and SQL/Query skills Competent knowledge in Statutory, GAAP and IFRS accounting Advanced knowledge of accounting/finance theory and application and financial reporting Advanced oral and written communication skills demonstrating ability to share and impart knowledge. Advanced ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional and technical disciplines Ability to quickly adapt to new methods, work under tight deadlines and stressful conditions. Advanced investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills; Advanced ability to translate business needs and problems into viable/accepted solutions Advanced ability to set goals and handle multiple tasks, clients, and projects simultaneously; Ability to appropriately balance priorities, deadlines, and deliverables Ability to work well within a team environment and participate in department/team projects Ability to balance detail with departmental goals/objectives; Ability to manage multiple projects or teams and set applicable goals Advanced people management skills, demonstrating the ability to lead, mentor, and develop associates; including the ability to delegate key areas of responsibility Advanced skills in customer relationship management and change management Advanced negotiating and persuasion skills #LI-MB1 What you can expect from

$89,310.00 - $134,870.00 Annual Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan.
