Job Description
The Managing Director of Assessment oversees a team of content experts, psychometricians, and test developers whose primary function is to develop and maintain the National Physical Therapy Examination program and related research. The role also requires participating in developing products to promote safe and effective physical therapy services, including practice tests, surveys, stakeholder educational materials, and other evidence-based regulatory products. Primary duties include the following. Manage functional area staff to ensure organizational goals are achieved efficiently and result in high-quality products/outcomes. Participate in goal planning and problem solving of organizational issues by maintaining an understanding of functional area projects, cross-functional initiatives, and Board of Directors strategic plans. Oversee and participate in projects and goals including: overseeing quality assurance, developing and monitoring budgets, sponsoring projects, participating in user acceptance testing, and management of external partner/vendor organizations. Includes serving as a technical expert on psychometric analysis, research design, and examination development. Maintain technical expertise necessary to manage work of the functional area and to expertly represent the organization to internal and external stakeholders. Ensure compliance with and participate in development of policies and procedures for; continuity of operations, performance standards, quality assurance, and organization-wide security. Be an outstanding resource to volunteers, member jurisdictions, the senior staff, and managing directors in responding to service, data, and other requests. Represent the organization with the highest level of customer service and integrity. Must have a PhD in I/O psychology or a related field, or a Master's degree with experience overseeing a high-stake testing program. Must have excellent public speaking and writing skills. Must have an understanding of psychometrics including Item Response Theory. Must have excellent applied research skills. Must have experience managing complex project budgets. Must have experience prioritizing multiple high-stakes projects simultaneously.
