Job Description

Mervin Manufacturing home of Lib Tech, GNU and Bent Metal is a leading designer and manufacturer of snowboarding, skiing, surfing, wake surfing and skateboarding products built at the world's most environMENTAL factory by people who ride them. Mervin Manufacturing was founded by snowboarders Mike Olson and Pete Saari in 1977. In an industry where virtually every other snowboard, ski, skateboard, and surfboard company has moved production to China or offshore, Mervin is the longest running and last major board building factory in the USA. Based out of Carlsborg, Washington, between the rugged Olympic and Cascade Mountain Ranges, Mervin is a direct link between riding and manufacturing. Job Purpose Lead structured and proactive problem solving initiatives to identify and resolve specific manufacturing process challenges. This role partners closely with design and production teams to improve efficiency, quality and reliability while helping build the next generation of boards. Duties and Responsibilities Process Improvement & Problem Solving Lead proactive efforts to identify, analyze, and resolve manufacturing process issues. Diagnose root causes of process failures and implement immediate and long-term corrective actions. Develop and apply systematic methods for evaluating manufacturing processes and equipment, using data-driven analysis to prevent recurrence. Production Documentation & File Management Create, update, and maintain snowboard parts files and related production documentation. Ensure all documentation accurately reflects current manufacturing standards and revisions. Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support Work closely with designers and manufacturing managers to develop cost-effective, functional production processes. Consult with merchandising teams regarding manufacturability of new designs, providing actionable suggestions to optimize production and outcomes. Equipment & Tooling Management Research, recommend, and oversee the acquisition or fabrication of new manufacturing equipment to support process improvements. Coordinate verification and validation processes for all new tooling. Manage mold maintenance programs in partnership with tool fabricators. Prototype & Production Launch Organize and document the production of snowboard prototypes, custom team boards, and first articles for production. Set up prototype and production lines to maximize efficiency and ensure successful launches. Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities for ongoing process optimization and cost reduction. Implement best practices and support a culture of continuous improvement across manufacturing operations. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or 5-10 years of relevant technical experience Proficiency in CAD modeling; AutoCAD experience preferred Strong skills in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities Self-motivation and the ability to work independently Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Strong hands-on skills and practical manufacturing experience Physical requirements Typical work week is 40+ hours in office as well as on production floor. Manufacturing support is required during (occasional) mandatory factory overtime days. Open office floorplan and casual environment. Work involves composites manufacturing, including milling wood, handling epoxy resin systems, fiberglass, carbon fiber, and related finishing tasks. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for all production activities. Become part of the Mervin Team! We operate on a 4x10's schedule, Monday through Thursday.
Pay Range:
$60,000 to $90,000 depending on qualifications and experience This position is based out of our Sequim manufacturing facility and candidates must live within commuting distance of the factory. This is not a remote or hybrid position.
