Responsible for identifying opportunities for product and process improvements and implementing engineering solutions to reduce material and labor costs while enhancing manufacturability, safety, and quality of electronic control systems. Responsibilities and Duties Adhere to all safety rules and regulations and support enforcement by management. Collaborate with manufacturing and quality teams to resolve process and production issues. Assist in the development and maintenance of assembly methods and continuous process improvements. Create and update 2D CAD drawings to document components, modifications, and assemblies. Review existing mechanical designs and assemblies to identify opportunities for simplification, cost reduction, improved manufacturability, and serviceability. Validate engineering changes using CAD modeling, simulation, and hands-on testing. Work closely with production operators and supervisors to understand shop-floor challenges and implement practical mechanical or process improvements. Review and optimize manufacturing cell layouts for efficiency. Identify and implement standardization opportunities across manufacturing, fabrication, and engineering documentation processes. Develop standard work procedures for production processes. Support production and product management teams in reducing material costs for parts and assemblies. Review and update the product Bill of Materials (BOM) with a focus on optimization. Analyze sketches and mark-ups to formalize production-ready drawings. Document build processes, tools, testing, packaging, and labeling requirements. Recommend process updates to ensure safety and quality during fabrication and assembly. Assist in training operators on new builds and testing procedures. Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. 1+ years of hands-on engineering experience in a production or manufacturing environment. Experience with 2D and 3D CAD systems. Strong understanding of mechanics, materials, and assembly processes. Demonstrated problem-solving skills and commitment to continuous improvement. Good interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative, team-oriented mindset. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus. Physical & Mental Demands Requires extended focus, quick decision-making, and the ability to analyze data and solve problems. Involves prolonged periods of sitting at a computer as well as standing and moving on the production floor. Occasional walking, standing, bending, squatting, reaching, and lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs. Must be comfortable communicating regularly with production operators and engineering team members. Position split between a typical office environment and the manufacturing shop floor.Office environment:
moderate noise (computers, phones, printers), adequate lighting and temperature.Shop floor environment:
may include varying noise levels, dust, and typical manufacturing conditions. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required when working in manufacturing areas.Similar remote jobs
