Senior This opportunity resides with Uncrewed Systems (UxS) , a business group within HII's Mission Technologies division. Uncrewed Systems comprises unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs), unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) and autonomy software. HII creates advanced unmanned solutions for defense, marine research and commercial applications. - Supervise and direct a team of manufacturing engineers supporting UUV production programs
- Establish task priorities, allocate resources, and ensure execution in accordance with program schedules and contractual requirements
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and formal performance feedback to assigned personnel
- Enforce adherence to safety, quality, and configuration management policies Manufacturing Process Control
- Develop, review, approve, and maintain manufacturing processes, routings, work instructions, and standard operating procedures
- Ensure processes meet requirements for traceability, repeatability, and auditability
- Lead manufacturing readiness and process validation activities for new and modified products
- Support Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) efforts throughout the product lifecycle Production Support and Issue Resolution
- Provide day-to-day engineering support to manufacturing operations
- Lead root cause and corrective action investigations related to production nonconformances, test failures, and escapes
- Ensure timely implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Monitor and report key manufacturing performance metrics including yield, rework, and schedule performance Quality, Compliance, and Safety
- Ensure compliance with applicable quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100) and internal procedures
- Support internal and external audits, including government and customer audits
- Ensure manufacturing processes comply with applicable safety requirements for electrical systems, pressure vessels, energy storage devices, and subsea-rated hardware
- Maintain strict configuration control and support Engineering Change Order (ECO) implementation Cross-Functional Coordination
- Collaborate with Design Engineering to support engineering changes, deviations, and waivers
- Coordinate with Quality, Supply Chain, Test, and Program Management to meet cost, schedule, and performance objectives
- Support supplier manufacturing reviews, technical interchange meetings, and production readiness assessments What you will be doing.
- 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in realted field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline
- Experience supporting complex electromechanical systems in a defense, aerospace, maritime, or other regulated environment
- Demonstrated experience developing and controlling manufacturing documentation
- Strong understanding of root cause analysis, corrective action systems, and process control
- Ability to obtain and maintain a government clearance #LI-MH1 Bonus points for..
- Experience with unmanned systems, underwater vehicles, robotics, or naval systems
- Familiarity with DoD programs, government contracts, and regulated production environments
- Knowledge of pressure systems, subsea components, sealing technologies, or high-reliability electronics
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement initiatives
