Who You Are:
Tri County Tech's manufacturing programs, including Welding, Machining, Industrial Technology, and Construction, provide students with hands-on, real-world learning experiences that prepare them for high-demand careers in the skilled trades. Students build technical knowledge while working with industry-standard equipment, materials, and processes in a lab-based environment. The Instructional Assistant plays a key supportive role across these manufacturing classrooms and labs. Responsibilities include assisting the instructor with daily classroom management, supporting students during hands-on projects, reinforcing safe and proper use of tools and equipment, and completing administrative tasks as assigned by the instructor or school administration. This role requires a foundational understanding of manufacturing or skilled trades, a strong focus on safety, and a commitment to supporting student learning in an active, skills-based environment.
What You'll Possess Qualified Candidates Will:
You'll possess a high school diploma; a Technology Center diploma or associate's degree in a manufacturing or skilled trades field is preferred. You'll have a minimum of two years of relevant experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or construction-related field such as welding, machining, industrial technology, or construction. You'll hold, or be willing to obtain, an industry-recognized certification relevant to your area of expertise (for example AWS, NIMS, NCCER, or similar). You will possess, or willing to obtain forklift certification. You'll demonstrate basic technical skills in one or more of the following areas: welding processes (MIG, TIG, Stick), machining and fabrication, use of hand and power tools, blueprint reading, measurement, and shop math. You'll have the ability to safely operate, maintain, and assist students with common shop equipment such as welders, lathes, mills, saws, and other industrial tools. You'll support lab organization and operations, including equipment setup, preventative maintenance, inventory management, material preparation, and maintaining a clean and safe learning environment aligned with OSHA standards. You are detail-oriented and organized. You'll simultaneously work on several tasks related to all things TCT and manage them with ease. You're a project planner who meets deadlines. You'll have excellent customer service. You'll exceed expectations and have excellent follow-up skills. You'll take the initiative, seek out projects, and openly accept other duties as assigned. What You'll Do Essential Functions:
Instructional Assistants provide administrative support to a workgroup or function in a task-oriented environment. They possess a present focus and will handle multiple tasks with provided direction in the scope of their workgroup. Customer service skills are a top priority as they often serve as the front-line representative of the workgroup. Support instruction across manufacturing labs, including Welding, Machining, Industrial Technology, and Construction. Provide hands-on support to student learning experiences in both classroom and lab settings. Maintain an effective learning environment by ensuring lab cleanliness, organization, safety, and active supervision of student work. Collaborate with the instructor(s) to reinforce student behavior expectations that support a productive, safe, and focused learning environment. Assist the instructor(s) with maintaining appropriate records and preparing reports related to student progress, including grades and attendance as requested. Participate in faculty meetings and support student organizations and program-related activities. Provide administrative support such as filing, inventory management, material handling, tool organization, and general classroom and lab coordination.
