Job Description

This entry-level role is a great way to learn about sheet metal installation and fabrication. This position supports job preparation, job progress, and job close out by moving materials, tools, and equipment. The tasks vary day to day, but general responsibilities include sealing duct, assembling and installing duct components, preparing and installing hangers, and utilizing basic hand tools to perform theses tasks. The primary responsibility is to assist sheet metal installation and to operate in a safe manner.
Essential Job Functions:
Under supervision, assists with duct assembly, cutting sheet metal, and sealing duct during installation. Uses hand and power tools to complete tasks. Install basic hangers, supports, takeoffs, taps, bell mouths, and volume dampers in all styles and forms. Gather and organize materials to prepare duct installation. Learn proper sealing during installation along with sheet metal layout and processes that include allowances and takeouts. Apply basic math to assist with layout and measuring jobs. Assist with duct testing. Always follows safety policies; immediately reports safety incidents to a Foreman. As part of the Sheet Metal Department, this individual is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment. Ensures assigned tools and equipment are properly maintained following preventive maintenance guidelines. Wear the necessary safety Personal Protective Equipment for each job task and construction site. Participates in all required safety training such as fall protection, CPR/First Aid, confined space, aerial/scissor lift, rough terrain forklift, and job specific trainings identified by management. Perform other duties as assigned. These duties may include backing up other departments and/or operating forklifts or construction lifts following the appropriate training.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED diploma and or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience with NCCER curriculum preferred. OSHA 10 certification is a plus, and/or the ability to complete the certification within 14 days from the hire date. Valid driver's license required and able to travel to VT, NY, NH, and Canada. Must be reliable, organized and able to work in a fast-paced work environment. Ability to follow directions, operate in safe manner, and thrive in fast paced work environment. Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as required, typically this position works Monday to Friday 7:00AM to 3:30PM.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Ability to frequently lift minimum of 75 pounds and stand throughout shift. Ability to occasionally carry, lift, and hold up to 100 pounds. Ability to frequently climb up and down and work at height. This includes climbing multiple flights of stairs, ladders (6ft to 14ft), and working from extension ladders. Some repetitive motion required. Pay:
$19.00 - $24.00 per hour
