Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic woodworking and fence shop team as a Helper dedicated to supporting skilled craftsmen in creating high-quality wood products and fencing solutions. This energetic role offers an exciting opportunity to learn and grow within the construction and fabrication industry. As a shop helper, you will assist with a variety of tasks that keep our operations running smoothly, ensuring projects are completed efficiently and to the highest standards. Whether you're just starting out or bringing some hands-on experience, this position is perfect for motivated individuals eager to develop their skills in carpentry, woodworking, and construction-related tasks. Responsibilities Assist with cutting, shaping, and assembling wood components using hand tools and power tools such as saws, drills, and sanders. Support the fabrication of custom wood products, fences, gates, and other custom projects by preparing materials and maintaining a clean work environment. Help with measuring and marking materials accurately based on schematics, or project specifications. Participate in the installation of fences, gates, and fixtures on-site or within the shop setting. Assist in loading and unloading materials, ensuring proper handling of heavy or bulky items through safe lifting techniques. Maintain shop cleanliness by organizing tools, equipment, and materials regularly to promote safety and efficiency. Experience Previous experience working in a construction or woodworking environment is preferred but not required; on-the-job training will be provided for motivated learners. Familiarity with hand tools (hammers, saws, chisels), power tools (drills, sanders), and basic carpentry techniques is advantageous. Knowledge of blueprint reading, schematics, or construction drawings helps ensure accurate project execution. Experience with framing carpentry, trim carpentry, or metal stud framing enhances your ability to contribute effectively. Understanding safety protocols on construction sites or within manufacturing settings is essential for maintaining a secure work environment. Additional experience in restoration industry tasks such as water damage restoration or mold remediation is a plus but not mandatory. A proactive attitude with strong attention to detail will help you succeed in supporting various fabrication and installation projects.
