Job Description

Position Summary At Nexus Millwork, our Cabinetmakers build custom cabinetry, casework, and architectural millwork from shop drawings and specifications, working under the direction of the Lead Cabinetmaker. The Cabinetmaker performs skilled bench and machine work to produce accurate, high-quality components and assemblies and contributes to a safe, organized, and productive shop. Essential Duties Build custom cabinetry, casework, and architectural millwork from shop drawings, cut lists, and specifications, following the direction of the Lead Cabinetmaker. Read and interpret shop drawings and cut lists, and measure and lay out work accurately. Mill, dimension, and machine solid wood, plywood, veneers, and laminates using table saws, jointers, planers, shapers, routers, edgebanders, and other woodworking equipment. Construct quality joinery, including dado, rabbet, mortise-and-tenon, dovetail, dowel, pocket-screw, and biscuit or loose-tenon joints. Apply veneers, laminates, and edgebanding, taking care with grain match and seams. Assemble cabinet boxes, face frames, doors, drawers, and panels, and install hardware such as hinges, slides, pulls, and locks to specification. Sand and prepare components for finishing, and perform dry-fitting and minor rework as directed. Operate hand and power tools and woodworking machinery safely, and keep tools and work areas clean and organized. Assist with material handling, staging, and inventory, and use materials efficiently to minimize waste. Report equipment problems, material shortages, and quality or safety concerns to the Lead Cabinetmaker. Support shop standards and procedures and contribute to continuous improvement. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Working knowledge of cabinet construction methods, joinery, and materials, including hardwoods, plywood, veneers, and laminates. Ability to read shop drawings and cut lists and to measure and lay out accurately. Competence with common woodworking machinery and hand tools; CNC experience a plus. Architectural millwork experience a plus. Solid math and measurement skills, with attention to detail and tolerances. Ability to take direction, work well as part of a team, and follow all safety rules. Qualifications Two (2) or more years of cabinetmaking or woodworking experience, or equivalent trade or apprenticeship training; strong entry-level candidates may be considered. Ability to complete required safety training and to operate equipment safely. Tools and Equipment The Company provides shop machinery and tooling as well as hand tools. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Stand for extended periods and frequently bend, reach, push, pull, and lift. Lift and carry materials up to 75 pounds, and assist with heavier materials such as sheet goods, at times with help or lifting aids. Work in a shop environment with exposure to wood dust, noise, and moving machinery, with consistent use of required personal protective equipment (eye, hearing, and dust protection). Operate powered woodworking equipment safely and follow all machine-guarding and lock-out / tag-out rules.
Pay:
$25.00 - $30.00 per hour
