Traveling Cabinet Maker Travel to Minnesota for a contract that will last 3 months to a year. Pay ranges from $28-$32 an hour. Job Description This role focuses on the final assembly of high-end retail store displays using a variety of hand and power tools, integrating materials such as wood, plastics, metals, and electronics. You will work from detailed blueprints to build precise, visually appealing fixtures, ensuring exceptional craftsmanship and quality in every project. The position requires frequent travel to support installation and assembly needs at different locations. Responsibilities Use hand tools such as drills, handheld routers, air nail guns, and other woodworking tools to complete the final assembly of high-end retail store displays. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and schematics to plan the sequence of cutting, shaping, and assembly operations. Measure materials accurately using a tape measure down to 1/16 of an inch to ensure precise cuts and fits. Mark outlines and dimensions of parts on paper or lumber stock before cutting or shaping. Match materials for color, grain, and texture to achieve a consistent and high-quality appearance. Set up and operate woodworking machines, including power saws, jointers, mortisers, tenoners, molders, and shapers, to cut and shape parts from wood stock. Trim component parts of joints to ensure a snug and accurate fit. Bore holes for screws or dowels and install fasteners as required. Glue, fit, and clamp parts and subassemblies together to form complete units. Drive nails or other fasteners into joints at designated locations to reinforce structural integrity. Sand and scrape surfaces and joints to prepare articles for finishing. Repair high-grade furniture and display components as needed. Apply protective or decorative finishes such as stains, varnishes, or paints using dipping, brushing, or spraying techniques. Install hardware such as hinges, catches, drawer pulls, and other fittings on finished pieces. Work closely with a small team of 1-2 colleagues, collaborating and remaining flexible as daily responsibilities shift based on project needs. Troubleshoot mechanical and assembly issues using a strong mechanical mindset and problem-solving skills. Maintain a high level of quality and attention to detail while working within tight deadlines. Safely operate a variety of hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery in accordance with company safety standards. Travel as needed to various locations to support on-site assembly and installation of store displays. Essential Skills Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and schematics with confidence. Proficiency in using a tape measure, including accurate measurement to 1/16 of an inch, and ability to pass a tape measure test. Experience with hand tools such as drills, handheld routers, air nail guns, and other common woodworking tools. Experience operating woodworking equipment including power saws, jointers, mortisers, tenoners, molders, and shapers. Strong mechanical aptitude with at least 2 years of experience utilizing blueprints, hand tools, and power tools, and thinking mechanically to troubleshoot issues. Excellent cabinet making or woodworking skills with a strong emphasis on quality craftsmanship. Ability to work effectively in a small team environment and collaborate with 1-2 coworkers. Demonstrated ability to work within tight deadlines while maintaining high standards of accuracy and detail. Strong attention to detail in measuring, cutting, fitting, and finishing materials. Ability to read and comprehend prints and job specifications clearly. Willingness to work overtime and occasional weekends as needed. Additional Skills & Qualifications Cabinet making or cabinet building experience, especially in a production or custom shop environment. Background in woodworking, carpentry, mechanical assembly, or related trades. Experience building products using multiple materials, including wood, plastics, metals, and components with integrated electronics. Familiarity with mechanical assembly processes and troubleshooting assembly issues. Experience working in shops of various sizes, from small custom shops to larger production environments. Comfort operating a wide range of power tools and machines, including saws and other specialty woodworking equipment. Ownership of personal hand tools suitable for cabinet making and assembly work. Experience working with large specialty equipment used in woodworking or fabrication is a plus. Pride in workmanship and a commitment to producing high-quality, finished products. The primary schedule for first shift runs from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with the opportunity to work up to 10 hours of overtime per week and occasional Saturday shifts from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. If a second shift is needed, hours run Monday through Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., with overtime available on Fridays. The environment is hands-on and tool-focused, with regular use of woodworking machinery, power tools, and hand tools in a professional shop setting, and attire appropriate for a production and fabrication workspace. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Fort Worth, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr.
