Cabinet Maker / Architectural Millwork Fabricator - Commercial Casework American Woodwork Inc. is hiring an experienced Cabinet Maker / Architectural Millwork Fabricator for our Wisconsin shop. We are a commercial architectural woodwork company specializing in high-end custom cabinetry, commercial casework, architectural millwork, laminate work, wood products, and custom built-ins. This is a great opportunity for a skilled cabinetmaker, woodworker, millwork fabricator, casework builder, or finish carpenter who takes pride in craftsmanship and wants steady shop work building premium commercial projects. Under the direction of the Shop Lead, Foreman, and Plant Manager, you will fabricate custom cabinetry and architectural woodwork from shop drawings while meeting project specifications, quality standards, and production schedules. Responsibilities As a Cabinet Maker / Architectural Millwork Fabricator, you will: Build custom commercial cabinetry, casework, architectural millwork, fixtures, and wood products from shop drawings. Read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, cut lists, and specifications. Fabricate custom woodwork according to drawings provided by the drafting and engineering team. Set up, operate, and maintain woodworking tools and machinery, including saws, routers, stationary equipment, hand tools, and powered hand tools. Work with a variety of materials, including hardwood, plywood, particleboard, MDF, laminate, veneer, solid surface, plastics, hardware, fasteners, and adhesives. Build projects to company quality standards, customer specifications, and applicable AWI architectural woodwork standards. Consult with engineering and production management on construction methods, fabrication details, and best practices. Use time, materials, and equipment efficiently to help maintain or reduce estimated project labor and material costs. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and State of Wisconsin safety regulations. Work independently with minimal supervision while also contributing to a team environment. Communicate effectively with shop teammates, leads, foremen, and management. Train or mentor less-experienced cabinet makers, woodworkers, or shop employees as directed. Work overtime as needed based on production schedules.
Qualifications Qualified candidates should have:
3-5 years of experience in a commercial cabinet shop, architectural millwork shop, custom cabinetry shop, casework shop, or similar woodworking environment. Experience building commercial casework, custom cabinets, millwork, fixtures, counters, panels, or architectural woodwork. Ability to read and build from shop drawings and specifications. Working knowledge of common cabinetmaking and millwork materials, including: Wood species and grades Plywood Particleboard MDF High-pressure laminate Solid surface materials Cabinet hardware Architectural hardware Fasteners Adhesives Familiarity with AWI standards is preferred. Experience with radius work, curved millwork, or specialty architectural millwork is a plus. High school diploma or GED preferred. Technical school training in woodworking, cabinetmaking, construction, carpentry, or millwork is a plus. Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to: Lift 50-75 pounds on a daily basis. Stand, bend, reach, push, pull, and work in a shop environment throughout the shift. Safely operate woodworking equipment, machinery, and power tools. Work 40 to 50+ hours per week as production schedules require.
