Job Title:
General Production Worker - Industrial Chemical Manufacturing Job Description This role supports an industrial chemical manufacturing process by performing physically demanding production and machine operation tasks in a challenging plant environment. The general production worker operates and tends industrial equipment, including high-temperature furnaces and dryers, to handle powdered metal materials and ensure the safe and efficient start of the tungsten manufacturing process. Responsibilities Handle barrels of tungsten powder and load them into industrial dryers as the initial step in the chemical manufacturing process. Operate and monitor industrial production equipment, including high-temperature furnaces, machines, and related robotic systems, in a safe and efficient manner. Perform general production and labor duties such as moving product throughout the facility, staging materials, and assisting with assembly or processing tasks as needed. Use hand tools and basic industrial tools to support machine operation, equipment adjustments, and routine production activities. Continuously walk, climb stairs, and perform manual handling tasks throughout 12-hour shifts in a physically demanding environment. Work safely in a chemical plant environment with strong odors and airborne powder, following all safety procedures and wearing required personal protective equipment. Maintain a clean and organized work area to help manage powder residue and support safe operations. Follow detailed training, work instructions, and standard operating procedures to ensure consistent product quality and process reliability. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production targets and adapt to changing priorities on the production floor. Demonstrate reliability and strong attendance to support continuous, around-the-clock operations on a rotating schedule. Essential Skills High school diploma or GED required. Ability to perform very physical work, including walking all day, climbing stairs frequently, and performing manual labor for 12-hour shifts. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds on a regular basis. Good, consistent work history demonstrating reliability and strong attendance. Prior manufacturing experience preferred, particularly in industrial or production environments. Comfort working with hand tools and basic industrial tools in a production setting. Willingness and ability to work rotating 12-hour night shifts (6:30 PM-6:30 AM) on a 3-on/2-off, 2-on/3-off schedule, averaging about 15 workdays per month. Ability to work safely in a non-climate-controlled, very hot, dirty, and physically demanding environment. Capacity to follow detailed instructions and safety procedures in a chemical plant setting. Ability to complete required training on day shift prior to transitioning to the regular schedule. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a chemical plant environment is highly preferred. Experience in mechanical work, construction, roofing, or other physically demanding industrial trades is preferred. Experience with general production, assembly, or machine operating in an industrial setting is beneficial. Comfort working around high-temperature furnaces, robots, and powdered metal processes. Ability to adapt to strong odors (such as ammonia) and significant dust or powder residue in the work area. Openness to contract employment with potential for longer-term opportunities based on performance. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Huntsville, AL.
