Job Description

Overview We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Sterile Processing Department (SPD) Technician to join our fast-paced multi-specialty Ambulatory Surgery Center team. The SPD Technician is responsible for the decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, storage, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment to support safe and efficient patient care. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and able to work collaboratively with nursing staff, surgical technologists, and physicians to maintain high standards of infection prevention and instrument processing. Duties Decontaminate, clean, inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize surgical instruments and trays according to established policies and manufacturer guidelines Operate sterilization equipment including steam autoclaves and low-temperature sterilizers Perform biological, chemical, and mechanical monitoring of sterilization processes Maintain accurate sterilization records and documentation Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage Ensure proper storage and inventory of sterile supplies and instruments Prepare case carts and instrument trays for scheduled surgical procedures Assist with inventory management and ordering of SPD supplies Follow infection control, OSHA, AORN, and regulatory standards Maintain a clean and organized work environment Communicate effectively with OR staff regarding instrumentation needs and turnaround times Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) preferred Previous sterile processing experience in a hospital or ambulatory surgery center preferred Knowledge of surgical instrumentation and sterilization procedures required Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology enhances understanding of surgical procedures and instrument requirements Knowledge of medical terminology aids in clear communication with clinical staff Familiarity with inventory management systems ensures accurate tracking of supplies and equipment Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced surgical environment Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Basic computer and documentation skills
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods Ability to lift and move instrument trays and supplies up to [25-50] pounds Frequent bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling Supportive team environment
Pay:
$35.00 - $45.00 per hour
