Pesticide Applicator's License Full Job Description Duties:
The Lead Spray Technician is responsible for the safe and effective application of herbicides, pesticides, fertilizers, and other landscape treatment products at multiple commercial, HOA, and golf properties. This position travels between assigned sites performing spray applications, monitoring landscape health conditions, and assisting in maintaining high-quality landscape appearance standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Apply herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, fertilizers, and soil amendments to landscape and turf areas. Operate spray rigs, backpack sprayers, spreaders, injection systems, and related equipment. Monitor and identify weeds, pests, plant diseases, nutrient deficiencies, and irrigation-related stress. Read and follow product labels, SDS sheets, and application instructions. Mix and apply chemicals safely and accurately in compliance with California regulations and company standards. Maintain detailed spray records, application logs, and chemical inventory documentation. Travel daily between multiple properties and maintain scheduled service routes. Inspect properties and report landscape health concerns or recommendations to supervisors. Calibrate and maintain spray equipment to ensure proper application rates and coverage. Maintain company vehicle, equipment, and storage areas in clean and safe condition. Follow all OSHA, DPR, EPA, and company safety procedures. Assist with minor irrigation troubleshooting and landscape support tasks as needed. Communicate professionally with supervisors, property managers, and team members. Qualifications Minimum 3 years of experience in landscape, turf, golf course, or agricultural spray applications required. Valid California driver's license with clean driving record. California Qualified Applicator Certificate (QAC) or Qualified Applicator License (QAL) preferred. Knowledge of landscape plant materials, weeds, pests, and turf care practices. Experience operating spray equipment and handling landscape chemicals safely. Ability to work independently and manage multiple job sites efficiently. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to lift 50 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in HOA, commercial, or golf course environments. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Basic irrigation troubleshooting knowledge. Experience with digital spray logs or routing systems. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift throughout the workday. Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in heat, cold, wind, and dusty conditions. Safely operate trucks, trailers, and spray application equipment. Work Schedule Full-time position. Some early morning, weekend, or overtime work may be required based on seasonal demands and weather conditions. Mainly Monday through Friday schedule. Compensation and Benefits Competitive hourly wage based on experience and certifications. Company vehicle provided for work-related travel (vehicle not to be taken home). Paid holidays and vacation.
