Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) -
Travel Assignment Location:
Santa Rosa, CA 95405
Duration:
13 Weeks (Possible Extension)
Shift:
Night Shift | 5x8-Hour | 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) to join a fast-paced acute care environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in instrument decontamination, sterilization, flexible endoscope reprocessing, surgical instrumentation, and specialty equipment processing. Candidates should be confident working independently while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and infection prevention. Key Responsibilities Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, sterilize, and distribute surgical instruments and reusable medical equipment. Process and reprocess flexible endoscopes and specialty surgical equipment according to manufacturer and AAMI guidelines. Operate steam sterilizers, Steris V-Pro low-temperature sterilization systems, ultrasonic cleaners, and mechanical washers. Perform biological monitoring, chemical indicator testing, and sterilization quality assurance procedures. Assemble instrument trays, procedure sets, and case carts while ensuring accuracy and completeness. Clean and process robotic surgical instruments, vendor trays, loaner trays, implants, and specialty instrumentation. Maintain accurate documentation of sterilization cycles, equipment processing, and inventory tracking. Precept and support new Sterile Processing team members as needed. Collaborate with surgical services to ensure instrument availability for scheduled procedures. Maintain compliance with infection prevention standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies. Required Qualifications Minimum 4 years of recent Sterile Processing Technician experience. Previous travel assignment experience required. Experience in a Level I Trauma Center required. Experience processing flexible endoscopes required.
Strong experience with:
Surgical instrument processing Robotic instrumentation Endoscope reprocessing Sterilization quality assurance Case cart assembly Vendor and loaner trays Ability to work independently in a high-volume sterile processing department. Required Certifications CRCST (HSPA/IAHCSMM) or CBSPD Certification required. BLS Certification preferred. Preferred Experience Teaching Hospital experience. Preceptor experience. Experience with Sterile Processing Microsystem (SPM). Familiarity with Veriscan and Scope Buddy systems. Application Question(s): What is the best time to talk to you?
