$35.48/hr. - $42.58/hr.

Non-Exempt SUMMARY:
The Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) Lead Operator is an advanced, senior level operator who serves as a technical lead and second in command under the Superintendent. The lead operator works with the Superintendent to coordinate daily operations, ensure regulatory compliance, support maintenance programs, lead trainings and safety efforts, and serves as acting supervisor in the Superintendent's absence. This position serves as backup Operator in Responsible Charge (ORC).
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with plant superintendent to plan, direct, and lead staff in daily operations and treatment process optimization
  • Utilize
SCADA/HMI
systems to monitor and adjust operations
  • Perform sampling and laboratory analysis
  • Maintain logs, reports, and compliance documentation
  • Ensure compliance with NPDES permit requirements
  • Support preparation of regulatory reporting including DMRs
  • Serve as backup ORC when designated
  • Coordinate preventative and corrective maintenance
  • Utilize Fiix CMMS for work orders and asset tracking
  • Train and mentor staff
  • Enforce safety programs
  • Participate in on-call rotation
  • Evaluate operations and maintenance; recommend and implement improvements with the Superintendent
  • Work with the Superintendent on personnel decisions and performance evaluations
  • Work with Superintendent to develop and implement training programs, including but not limited to safety programs and emergency operations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.

Operations, practices, equipment, chemicals, and activities related to the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant. Operation, preventative maintenance, and emergency repair of plant equipment including valves, pumps, and motors. NPDES permits and regulatory compliance requirements Methods and techniques of laboratory tests and procedures related to wastewater treatment Basic principles of chemistry, microbiology, mathematical calculations, hydraulics and other principles of wastewater treatment. Principles and procedures used in the proper handling of chemicals. General office machinery, computer hardware/software, SCADA and control equipment.
ABILITY TO
Analyze and troubleshoot treatment processes Lead and support team members. Operate office equipment including computers and applicable software applications. Work independently and make sound decisions Communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Promote a positive environment for self and team. Maintain accurate records and reports
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Colorado Class "A" Wastewater Treatment License (required) 5 years wastewater treatment operation and maintenance experience, or acceptable combination of education, certification, and experience. High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) equivalency. Valid Colorado Driver's License.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
State of Colorado Industrial Wastewater Operators License State of Colorado Wastewater Collection License Supervisory or lead experience Experience with Fiix CMMS system

May be subject to noise and chemical dust. Must work with hazardous chemicals in a liquid, vapor or solid form.
