Job Title:
Technician Job Description The Technician is responsible for managing the glycerin refinery plant operations, maintaining production targets, and ensuring efficiency through systems like Distributed Control Systems (DCS). The role involves monitoring process parameters, alarms, and equipment status, and making necessary adjustments to ensure optimal performance. Additionally, the Technician is responsible for quality control by taking samples from designated points and ensuring timely delivery to the laboratory for testing. Handling chemicals, conducting preventive maintenance, and adhering to plant safety procedures are key aspects of this role. Responsibilities Operate refinery equipment and manage glycerin refinery plant operations using Distributed Control Systems (DCS). Monitor process parameters, alarms, and equipment status; make necessary adjustments for optimal performance. Conduct quality control by taking samples from designated points and ensuring timely delivery to the laboratory. Handle chemicals based on production requirements, ensure proper dosing, and adhere to safety protocols. Perform preventive maintenance on field equipment and report any issues. Follow all plant safety procedures, especially when handling hazardous materials or working with high-temperature equipment. Work Environment The work environment includes 12-hour shifts from 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM in a climate-controlled setting. The role requires comfort working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, as well as in confined spaces with exposure to chemicals, pressurized steam, dust, heat, noise, and fumes. The dress code is casual, but steel-toed boots, hard hats, safety glasses, and additional PPE are required, with uniforms provided later on. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Boone, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
