Shift:
Day shift (4 × 10-hour days), Monday through Thursday. Overtime as needed. Job Overview PEC Friction Fighters Corp., a niche player in the abrasives industry, is seeking a Production Operator to join our Industrial Graphite Coating, Conversion and Shipping team at our Crystal Lake, IL facility. This position is responsible for the safe operation, monitoring, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment used to produce graphite-coated canvas, pressure segmented sanding belts, sanding platens, and custom products used in the woodworking and metalworking industries. Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and monitor manufacturing equipment used for coating, slitting, and converting materials
  • Set up machines, perform job changeovers, and make process adjustments as needed
  • Observe material flow and identify defects, irregularities, or equipment malfunctions
  • Prepare raw material formulations and blends for processing
  • Perform in-process and final quality control inspections and tests
  • Accurately complete production paperwork, logs, and data entry
  • Communicate with maintenance, quality, and other departments to resolve issues
  • Meet or exceed production, quality, and safety standards
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas according to 5S and Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Prepare, package, and ship finished goods for domestic and international package, LTL, FTL, and container shipments
  • Receive, inspect, verify, and log incoming raw material LTL, FTL, and container shipments to ensure accuracy, quality, safety, and traceability
  • Wear required PPE and follow EHS policies
  • Participate in training and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Cross-train in other departments and engage in special projects as needed Qualifications & Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience (abrasives, coating, chemical, mechanical, or woodworking experience preferred)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
  • Basic math skills including fractions, decimals, and metric conversions
  • Ability to read and follow production documentation
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic computer and data entry proficiency
  • Detail-oriented with strong quality focus
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs., bend, stoop, and stand machine-side for extended periods
  • Ability to operate a seated forklift (training provided)
