Sterile Processing Technician - Part Time Midwest Vision Surgery Center of Lansing East Lansing, MI Job Details Part-time 3 days ago Benefits Paid holidays Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off 401(k) matching Employee discount Referral program Qualifications CPR Certification Teamwork BLS Certification High school diploma or GED Perioperative care Full Job Description The Sterile Processing Technician demonstrates competence in all aspects of sterile processing, including decontamination, preparation, packaging, sterilization, sterile storage, and distribution of sterile supplies. Responsibilities include collecting, sorting, decontaminating, sterilizing, and storing instruments after use, as well as performing duties related to ordering and inventory management of instruments and supplies. The Sterile Processing Technician utilizes their skills and abilities to provide quality patient care in accordance with ASC policies and procedures while serving as a self-motivated member of the peri-operative team. The technician maintains current knowledge of techniques and procedures utilized within the ASC and demonstrates professionalism, accountability, and teamwork. This role also includes understanding the importance of obtaining appropriate equipment and supplies, particularly during emergency situations, to support safe and efficient patient care.
Schedule:
Mon- Thurs shifts varies 8-10 hours (typical surgery day shift 7am-5/6pm) •Part time 2-3 per week; up to 29 hours per week What you will be working on Maintain and log daily sterilization Perform and log biological test results for sterilizers Knowledge of sterilization parameters, temperature settings, autoclave cycles Ability to clean and organize instruments and equipment for sterile wrapping Ability to package supplies for sterilization Demonstrate correct procedure for decontamination, washing and sterilization of equipment Knowledge of chemical sterilization/disinfection, including proper handling and disposal Inspect instruments and report all defective instruments and equipment to OR Manager Clean each item according to manufactures instruction Accurately label each item with name and expiration Demonstrate ability to evaluate suggestions and criticism objectively and undertake responsibility of changing behavior or seeking further guidance as needed Assist in OR room for set-up and clean-up Preparation of supplies, equipment etc. to ensure minimum turnover and to enhance proficiency Apply principals of cost containment for proper and appropriate selection and utilization of supplies Respond and understand role in obtaining appropriate equipment and supplies in emergency situations Adhere to strict patient confidentiality standards Assist in transport of patients in a safe manner Provide clear, concise communication with staff, supervision, patients, and family Perform other duties as assigned What you will receive Competitive wages Robust benefit package including medical, dental, life and disability (short- and long-term) insurance Generous paid time off (PTO) program Seven (7) company paid holidays 401(k) retirement plan with company match Uniform reimbursement (when applicable) An organization focused on People, Passion, Purpose and Progress Inspirational culture What you know Required High school diploma or GED Specialty Certification (After 2 years' service) Basic knowledge of aseptic technique Current CPR certification Awareness of exposure to high-risk environment
