JOB SUMMARY
The Pilot Plant Technician I will serve a crucial role in operations within a pilot plant environment. This position requires technical involvement with equipment setup, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance. Additionally, the role involves thorough compliance with safety standards and operational protocols. This is a fully on-site position in Blaine, MN.
Hours are as follows:
1st Shift = 6:00am
  • 2:30pm 2nd Shift = 2:00pm
  • 10:30pm [$2/hr. shift differential] 3rd Shift = 8:00pm
  • 6:30am [$3/hr.
shift differential]
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations Assist with pilot plant runs, including equipment setup, operation, data collection, and maintenance. Utilize Human-Machine Interface (HMI) systems and radio communication for plant operations. Coordinate with engineering and production teams to optimize processes and ensure project goals are met. Perform other related duties as required and assigned by the Operations Manager of the Innovation Center. Technical Exposure Assist with troubleshooting complex mechanical and chemical processes for operational efficiency. Assist with conducting routine preventive maintenance of piloting equipment. Assemble and configure equipment for various processes, ensuring prompt functionality Safety and Compliance Establish and enforce adherence to safety standards (PPE, lockout/tagout, fall protection) and regulatory requirements. Maintain a high level of housekeeping in the facility to ensure a safe working environment. Customer Interaction Assist in generating customer reports and providing technical support. Respond promptly to requests from internal and external stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and resolution.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Post-secondary degree or equivalent experience is preferred. Mechanical or hands-on background required. Increasing ability of operating and troubleshooting pilot plant equipment. Radio communication experience is preferred. Knowledge of oilseed processes and mechanical systems is highly advantageous. Special Engineer Boiler License preferred; must be able to obtain. Forklift Certification beneficial; must be able to obtain.
Computer skills:
Ability to send/receive emails, timecards. Ability to improve communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to follow oral, written, and technical instructions accurately. Self-motivated; takes initiative to collaborate effectively within a team environment. Ability to work in a plant environment with exposure to chemicals, hazardous materials, and noise. Flexibility to work shifts (afternoons or nights) and accommodate flexible scheduling as required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Plant environment conditions include some exposure to chemicals, hazardous materials, and noise; potential work at heights, in confined spaces, and in inclement weather conditions

Base Rate:
$23
