Job Description

St. Clare Surgical Center is seeking an experienced Lead Instrument Processing Technician to support our high-performing ambulatory surgery center. This role is ideal for someone with strong sterile processing experience who is ready to take on a leadership position while maintaining hands-on responsibilities. Position Summary The Lead Instrument Processing Technician is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of sterile processing, ensuring proper decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments. This role also provides guidance to staff and ensures compliance with all regulatory and safety standards. Key Responsibilities Lead and support sterile processing staff in daily operations Ensure proper cleaning, inspection, assembly, and sterilization of instruments Monitor sterilization processes, including biological and chemical testing Maintain accurate documentation and sterilization records Ensure compliance with AAMI, AORN, and facility standards Manage instrument inventory and identify repair/replacement needs Coordinate with OR staff to ensure timely case readiness Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant sterile processing department Assist with training and onboarding of new staff Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED Minimum 2+ years of sterile processing (SPD) experience Demonstrated knowledge of sterilization standards and procedures Strong attention to detail and leadership ability Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks Preferred Qualifications CRCST certification (preferred, not required) Previous leadership or lead tech experience Experience in an ambulatory surgery center (ASC) or OR setting Knowledge of multi-specialty instrumentation Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally Frequent bending, reaching, and handling of instruments Benefits Competitive compensation based on experience.
