Job Description

Receiving Operator Raleigh, NC Pay:
$22.00 per hour ​​​
Shift :
7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (With expected overtime and potential earlier starts) Job Summary The Receiving Operator is responsible for the safe receipt, unloading, inspection, labeling, storage, and movement of raw materials, packaging supplies, and production materials that support manufacturing operations. This role plays a key part in maintaining inventory accuracy, material availability, and operational efficiency while ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards. The Receiving Operator safely unloads railcars, tank trucks, and bulk material deliveries, operates material handling equipment, and supports manufacturing schedules through effective inventory and material management practices. Job Responsibilities Receive, inspect, unload, label, and store raw materials, packaging supplies, and production materials. Verify incoming shipments and process materials according to established procedures and inventory requirements. Move materials to designated storage locations using forklifts and other material handling equipment. Coordinate bulk material deliveries based on production schedules, inventory levels, and transportation availability. Collect required material samples and perform receiving inspections as required. Safely unload bulk materials from railcars, tank trucks, and other delivery vehicles. Monitor material inventory levels and support replenishment activities to maintain production continuity. Operate forklifts, yard trucks, pumps, valves, and bulk liquid transfer equipment safely and efficiently. Perform material transfers in accordance with operating procedures and safety regulations. Complete inventory transactions and maintain accurate receiving and inventory records. Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, safety requirements, and environmental regulations. Utilize required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow all site safety protocols. Perform basic calculations related to inventory, material consumption, tank capacities, and transfer volumes. Collaborate with production, logistics, warehouse, quality, and operations teams to ensure material availability. Participate in safety programs, audits, training, and continuous improvement initiatives. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Perform additional duties as assigned. Job Requirements High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required. Experience operating forklifts and other material handling equipment. Experience in chemical manufacturing, chemical processing, bulk material handling, receiving operations, warehouse operations, or related industrial environments. Understanding of railcar and tanker truck loading and unloading processes. Ability to read, understand, and follow written procedures, work instructions, and safety documentation. Basic mathematical skills and ability to perform inventory and measurement calculations. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Effective communication and organizational skills. Ability to work in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Work Experience Experience operating forklifts and material handling equipment required. Experience in chemical manufacturing, chemical receiving, bulk liquid handling, warehouse operations, logistics, or industrial manufacturing preferred. Experience working with pumps, valves, transfer systems, or bulk liquid handling equipment preferred. Experience with inventory management systems, warehouse management systems, or manufacturing systems preferred. Hazmat certification preferred but not required. Basic computer experience, including Microsoft Office applications, preferred. Additional Job Details (Commute, Attendance, etc.) Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in warehouse, manufacturing, and industrial environments. Exposure to varying weather conditions, temperature extremes, chemicals, and industrial equipment. Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of materials up to 75 pounds. Ability to climb stairs, work at elevated levels, and access industrial equipment areas. Must be able to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, safety footwear, hard hats, gloves, and respiratory protection when required. Overtime and shift work may be required based on business needs. Regular attendance and adherence to assigned schedules are required.
