Job Description
Bass Environmental is seeking an experienced Chemical Handler/Batch Operator to support industrial and environmental operations , including wastewater treatment, waste processing, and chemical handling activities. This role is intended for candidates with hands-on experience in industrial, plant, or field environments — not clean laboratory or research settings . The Chemical Handler will safely manage, transfer, treat, and package chemicals and waste streams while maintaining strict compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company safety standards. Key Responsibilities Chemical Handling & Processing Handle, transfer, stage, and process industrial chemicals and waste materials in operational plant environments Perform chemical unloading, bulk transfers, drum handling, and containerized waste management Perform chemical batch processing, including measuring, mixing, and transferring chemicals according to approved procedures Assist with wastewater treatment processes, including chemical dosing, neutralization, and system adjustments Operate pumps, valves, hoses, forklifts, and basic processing equipment Label, package, and containerize hazardous and non-hazardous materials per regulatory and facility requirements Safety & Regulatory Compliance Perform all job duties in compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and

(29 CFR 1910.120) requirements Properly don required PPE, including respirators, chemical suits, gloves, and eye/face protection Follow site-specific Health & Safety Plans (HASP) , standard operating procedures, and job hazard analyses (JHAs) Participate in daily safety meetings and report unsafe conditions immediately Assist with spill response, decontamination activities, and emergency procedures as trained Waste & Environmental Support Assist with receipt, staging, treatment, and shipment of waste streams Support wastewater sampling, monitoring, and basic recordkeeping under supervision Maintain clean and compliant work areas, secondary containment, and chemical storage locations Inspect containers for integrity, labeling, and regulatory compliance Required Qualifications- Experience in an industrial, environmental, wastewater, or waste processing environment, not a clean laboratory, research, or bench‑top laboratory background
- 40‑hour
HAZWOPER
certification OR willingness and ability to obtain certification upon hire, including required annual refreshers- Must be over 21 years of age
- Ability to safely handle corrosive, toxic, flammable, and reactive chemicals in an operational plant or field setting
- Willingness to work outdoors, in industrial facilities, and around heavy equipment, including climbing a ladder for samples from trucks
- Ability to follow written and verbal safety instructions, SOPs, and site‑specific Health & Safety Plans
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to operate or assist with industrial equipment Required Certifications / Training Degree in Chemistry preferred 40-hour
HAZWOPER
