We are currently looking for a skilled and dependable HTST Pasteurization Operator to join our processing team. The Role As an HTST Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our High Temperature Short Time pasteurization system, ensuring every batch of product meets strict quality, safety, and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities Operate and monitor the HTST pasteurization system in accordance with state and federal dairy regulations (PMO — Pasteurized Milk Ordinance) Set up, run, and shut down pasteurization equipment at the start and end of each shift Perform and document required in-process checks including temperature monitoring, flow diversion device testing, and pressure differentials Conduct CIP (Clean-In-Place) procedures on pasteurization and processing equipment following established protocols Complete accurate production logs, charts, and regulatory records required for state inspections Collect product samples and perform basic quality tests (temperature, pH, titratable acidity) as required Monitor and respond to equipment alarms, troubleshoot minor issues, and escalate maintenance needs promptly Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times in compliance with food safety and GMP standards Work collaboratively with processing, quality, and maintenance teams across shifts Adhere to all Arps Dairy safety policies and food safety protocols What We're Looking For Prior experience in a dairy processing or fluid milk plant environment Familiarity with HTST or related pasteurization equipment operation Understanding of food safety principles, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and sanitation procedures Ability to work to cover other shifts, including weekends as needed Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate recordkeeping Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in a cold, wet processing environment Preferred Ohio Grade A Pasteurization license or ability to obtain one (training support available) Experience with CIP systems and sanitation chemical handling Knowledge of PMO regulations and state dairy inspection requirements Basic mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting processing equipment Shift & Schedule Candidates must be willing to cover other shifts as needed Typical shifts are 8-10 hours; overtime available and paid at applicable rates Weekend availability required based on production schedule Reliable transportation to our Defiance, Ohio facility is required Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly wage commensurate with experience Overtime pay for hours beyond 40 per week Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off and company holidays On-the-job training and support obtaining Ohio pasteurization licensure if needed Stable employment with a well-established regional dairy
