Job Description
Position Summary The Industrial Battery Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, diagnosis, repair, and installation of industrial motive power batteries, chargers, watering systems, and related equipment at customer locations. This position requires strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently while providing exceptional customer service. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform preventative maintenance inspections on industrial batteries, chargers, and battery handling equipment. Diagnose and repair battery chargers, battery cables, connectors, watering systems, and related electrical components. Conduct battery testing including voltage, load testing, specific gravity readings, and capacity evaluations. Replace damaged battery cells, cables, connectors, and associated components as needed. Install and commission industrial battery chargers and battery systems. Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and charging system failures. Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and work orders utilizing company software systems. Provide customers with recommendations regarding battery replacement, maintenance, and operational best practices. Maintain company vehicle inventory and ensure proper care of tools and equipment. Follow all OSHA, EPA, DOT, and company safety requirements when handling batteries, acids, and electrical equipment. Communicate effectively with customers, dispatch, and management regarding equipment status and repair recommendations. Participate in on call or after hours service support as required. Maintain a professional appearance and represent the company positively at customer locations. Perform battery PM agreements, battery room inspections, charger audits, and provide customer training on proper battery maintenance practices. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Ability to safely lift up to 75 pounds. Ability to work in industrial, warehouse, manufacturing, and outdoor environments. Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.• Preferred Qualifications Previous experience with industrial batteries, motive power systems, or battery chargers. Experience working on forklifts, material handling equipment, golf carts, aerial lifts, or similar equipment. Knowledge of DC electrical systems and battery charging principles. Experience using voltmeters, hydrometers, load testers, and diagnostic equipment. OSHA safety training and electrical safety experience. Technical Skills DC electrical troubleshooting AC charger diagnostics Battery testing and analysis Wiring repair and replacement Preventative maintenance procedures Reading electrical schematics Use of digital multimeters and testing equipment Computer and mobile device proficiency for service documentation Physical Requirements Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull batteries, chargers, cables, and tools. Stand, kneel, bend, climb, and work in confined spaces for extended periods. Work around battery acid, electrical systems, and industrial equipment. Ability to wear required PPE including safety glasses, gloves, face shields, and protective clothing. Performance Expectations Complete assigned service calls safely and efficiently. Maintain high first time fix rates. Accurately document all work performed and recommendations. Maintain customer satisfaction through professional communication and quality workmanship. Adhere to company productivity, safety, and quality standards.
Pay:
