  • Contract Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Travel Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) to join a busy surgical services department at a Level III Trauma Center in Spokane, Washington.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of travel experience and strong expertise in sterile processing, decontamination, instrument assembly, sterilization monitoring, and flexible endoscope reprocessing. This role supports surgical operations by ensuring all instruments and equipment are properly cleaned, sterilized, assembled, documented, and available for patient care. Responsibilities Perform decontamination, cleaning, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment. Assemble and organize instrument trays according to established standards. Process and manage loaner and consignment instrument trays. Operate washers, sterilizers, ultrasonic cleaners, Automated Endoscope Reprocessors (AER), and other SPD equipment. Monitor sterilization processes using biological and chemical indicators. Conduct steam, Steris, and Sterrad sterilization testing and monitoring. Perform high-level disinfection (HLD) and flexible endoscope reprocessing. Maintain accurate documentation using Sterile Processing Microsystem (SPM) and Epic. Ensure compliance with infection prevention standards, regulatory requirements, and facility policies. Support processing of specialty surgical instruments across multiple service lines. Maintain proper labeling, wrapping, storage, and handling of sterile supplies. Required Qualifications Minimum 2 years of Sterile Processing Technician experience . Minimum 2 years of travel healthcare experience (required). Current certification through one of the following: HSPA (formerly IAHCSMM) CBSPD Experience in acute care hospital operating room environments. Proficiency with Epic charting/documentation systems. Strong knowledge of aseptic technique and sterilization practices.
