Contract to Hire Position Summary We are seeking an experienced CNC Operator / CNC Machinist with strong setup, troubleshooting, and precision machining experience in an aerospace or high-precision manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for independently setting up and operating CNC machine tools to manufacture blind fasteners and aerospace components to tight tolerances and engineering specifications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with CNC setup, tooling adjustments, auto-loading systems, SPC, blueprint reading, precision inspection equipment, and troubleshooting CNC machining processes. Key Responsibilities Setup and operate CNC machine tools including computerized numerically controlled machining equipment Adjust tooling, collets, fixtures, and work holding devices for production runs Operate and troubleshoot chucker automatic load systems and auto-loading CNC equipment Read and interpret: Blueprints Engineering drawings CNC programs Technical documentation Setup sheets Input and verify CNC commands and machine setup parameters Perform dry runs and setup verification prior to production Troubleshoot machining, tooling, fixture, and programming issues Collaborate with programmers and production personnel to resolve operational problems Maintain accurate setup cards, production records, and manufacturing documentation Utilize SPC (Statistical Process Control) methods to monitor product quality and process performance Record production activity and workflow updates in SYMIX ERP/database systems Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring equipment including: Micrometers Calipers Indicators Comparators Precision gauges Support Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, and production efficiency initiatives Assist team members and contribute to overall production workflow and quality objectives Required Qualifications 3 10 years of CNC machining and setup experience Experience operating and setting up: CNC lathes CNC mills Chucker machines Auto-loading CNC systems Strong knowledge of: G-Code CNC setup procedures Tooling adjustments Precision machining Aerospace machining standards Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and engineering specifications Experience with SPC and quality control methodologies Proficiency using precision inspection instruments and measuring equipment Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems such as SYMIX Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment Strong written and verbal communication skills Preferred Experience Aerospace manufacturing Blind fastener manufacturing Tight tolerance machining Lean Manufacturing Continuous Improvement environments High-volume precision production machining Journeyman machining or trade school background Work Environment This position operates in a manufacturing and machine shop environment with exposure to: CNC machinery Moving mechanical equipment Cutting oils and metalworking fluids Noise and airborne particles Proper PPE and adherence to all safety procedures are required.
