Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented CNC Set Up Operator to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and setting up CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines, including CNC milling machines and CNC lathes, to produce high-precision parts efficiently and accurately. Your expertise in CNC programming, tooling, and precision measurement will ensure that production runs smoothly, meeting quality standards and safety protocols. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with advanced machinery, contribute to lean manufacturing processes, and develop your skills in a fast-paced, innovative environment. Duties Set up CNC machines by installing tooling, fixtures, and programming files based on detailed blueprints and technical drawings. Program CNC equipment utilizing CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software and verify programs through simulation before production runs. Read and interpret GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications to ensure parts meet precise tolerances. Operate CNC milling machines and CNC lathes using Fanuc controls or similar systems to produce complex components. Conduct quality inspections using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM). Perform routine maintenance on CNC equipment, including electrical discharge machining (EDM) tools and other machining tools. Troubleshoot machine issues promptly, adjusting tooling or programming as needed to maintain efficiency and quality. Follow safety protocols diligently while handling hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and plastics injection molding machinery. Support continuous improvement initiatives by participating in lean manufacturing practices and optimizing setup procedures. Maintain accurate documentation of setups, adjustments, inspections, and production logs for traceability. Qualifications Proven experience operating and setting up CNC machinery such as CNC milling machines and CNC lathes. Strong knowledge of CNC programming languages like G-code and CAM programming software. Ability to read blueprints with GD&T annotations accurately. Mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of tooling, fixtures, and machining processes. Familiarity with electrical discharge machining (EDM) techniques is a plus. Skilled in using precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and CMMs. Basic math skills for calculations related to measurements and tolerances. Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles to improve setup efficiency. Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, forklifts, and support assembly tasks when needed. Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills. Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members across departments. Join us as a CNC Set Up Operator where your technical expertise drives precision manufacturing excellence! We value safety, quality craftsmanship, continuous learning, and teamwork—empowering you to grow your career in a vibrant industrial environment.
