CNC Set Up Operator -2nd Shift

Position Summary:

With minimal assistance level two machinists operate 2-5 axis CNC/Automated machine cells as well as standalone machines, which requires basic machine setup including preparing and setting up fixtures and cutting tools, as well as loading and adjusting CNC programs and offsets. Level two machinist competencies include the ability to use more advanced quality inspection tools and techniques such as height and air gauges and bench inspection. The level two machinist will have basic competencies in print reading and common CNC G and M codes. Typically 2-4 years of experience.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction. Review shop traveler to verify that prior operations have been completed before starting process. Read shop traveler or blueprint to determine specified requirements, tolerances and sequences of operations for machine setup. Set up and operate numerical control machine tools that automatically drill and ream metal parts. May adjust machine feed and speed, change cutting tools, or adjust machine controls when automatic programming is faulty or if machine malfunctions. Follow standard procedures to check, test, login, logout, and run good quality parts, coordinating with the department supervisor or lead person during the process. Physical Requirements Occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds

Standing:

Required for up to 8-10 hours per shift.

Lifting:

Frequently lifts parts and tools weighing up to 50 lbs.

Repetitive Motion:

Frequent use of hands and wrists for feeding material, measuring, and inspecting.

Visual Acuity:

Required for detailed inspection of parts and reading accurate measurements.

Posture:

Frequent bending, reaching, and twisting.

Chemical Exposure:

Possible exposure to coolants, lubricants, and metal dust; PPE required.

Experience/Qualifications:

• 2-4 years of experience.
• The ability to read and write English.
• An introductory competence in shop math such as working with fractions and decimals.
• A basic knowledge of inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, comparators, etc.
• A basic knowledge of machine tools.
• Basic blueprint reading competencies.
• The ability to interpret written instructions on shop travelers.
• Capable of setting up and running parts as required.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of basic computer use. Applicants should be familiar with CNC machining methods. Schedule & Compensation

• 2nd shift 2:30pm - 11:00pm, with occasional overtime.
• Competitive hourly rate:
• $25 - $30/hr, based on experience.

Shift Differential:

$2.00 per/hour

$25.60 - $30.83 per hour
