DAM's core competency is in low-quantity, high variety machining of defense articles primarily comprised of aerospace alloy steels. There is plenty opportunity for growth and upskilling at DAM, as the nature of jobs varies day to day and the skills required to tackle each job is different as well. DAM is looking to add a team-member that is passionate about machining, enjoys the fast-pace nature of a job-shop, and the opportunity to grow as a machinist.
Description:
CNC Machinist will work on CNC Mills setting up and proving programs. The position is responsible for their assigned machine(s) setup and operation to produce parts from aerospace grade materials. The CNC Machinist is responsible for operating the machine effectively to ensure parts are being run efficiently and tolerances are to print.
Essential Duties & Functions:
Operating CNC machining equipment to produce parts using blueprints provided with understanding of relation to GD&T. Loading tooling for jobs and measuring tool length offset. Inspect parts produced for accuracy, flaws, or areas of concern. Communicate problems with work holding and programming to supervisor and machine programmer. Communicate tooling needed with supervisor for upcoming jobs, design and produce fixturing for upcoming jobs. Load and unload parts and materials per job requirement. Blend and Deburr parts during cycle times Monitor tooling life and wear and adjust as needed Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with State, Federal, and Company safety regulations. Effectively communicates with coworkers and managers to support efficient production. Performs other work in related duties as assigned to ensure a highly maintained and safe department. Work as part of the team to ensure productivity and cross train to other departments as needed.
Skills:
Must be able to read blueprints, drawings, schematics or similar material Must be proficient in using computer numerical control (CNC) machinery tools. Ability to use precision measuring devices such as micrometers, indicators, gage blocks, and optical comparators to verify that production parts meet or exceed quality standards is required.
