Greene Machine & Manufacturing, Inc. 251 South Street | Macon, GA 31206 | (478) 745-6188 | www.collins-mfg.com CNC Machine Operator Position The objective for the CNC Machine Operator is to consistently produce quality parts through set-up, verification, and operation of a computer numerical control (CNC) machine. CMC Expectations of a
Successful Programmer:
Set-up machines independently to run assigned programs. Input control instruction into machine. Break-down machine tooling independently, and return usable tools to their assigned locations. Independently run assigned programs on both CNC lathes and mills. Read and understand blueprints, drawings, and programs. Use, read, and understand inspection equipment (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, etc.) to ensure quality parts. Consistently produce quality parts through in-process inspection. Troubleshoot and provide problem solving ideas when production issues arise. Report in a timely manner any relevant information (machine error, poor quality, maintenance/safety issues, etc.) to the Production Supervisor and/or Project Manager. Accurately document work on the production work order, and note any changes and/or recommendations that are needed for future runs. Consistently and accurately clock in and out, record total quantity, and scrap of production work orders using the MieTrak kiosk. Follow Preventive Maintenance procedures, and assist when required. Follow and support CMC safety requirements, such as wearing the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Follow all company policies, for example, Quality, Safety, and Employee Manuals. Ready to work from the start of the shift until the end.
Skills of CNC Machine Operator:
Math Skills :
Good math skills will help machine operators understand complex instructions, how plans work and make sure items are designed and built correctly.
Problem Solving Skills :
Machine operators will need to know why machines are not at peak performance, how to increase output and how to fix errors. Attention to
Detail :
Machine operators will work with precision equipment. Being off by millimeters could be a critical error. Acute attention to detail is required.
Mechanical and Technical Skills :
Some machines are controlled by computers and operators will need to work with CAD/CAM technology. Others are highly mechanical and operators will need to know how and why they work.
Stamina :
Machine operators often work long hours doing repetitive movements.
Analytical Skills :
Machine operators will need to read and understand blueprints, drawings, models and other specifications.
Preferred:
3-4 years of work experience as a CNC Machine Operator, or 1-2 years of work experience as a CNC Machine Operator in addition to a Machinist Technical Degree. Able to lift 50 lbs. without assistance, and stand for long periods of time.
