Job Description

CNC Setup Operator The CNC Setup Operator sets up, operates, programs, and troubleshoots CNC machining equipment to produce precision, tight-tolerance components. This role requires strong blueprint reading, quality inspection experience, hands-on machine setup ability, and the ability to write programs, make offsets, and complete minor program edits without relying on a dedicated programmer. CNC Setup Operator Responsibilities CNC mills, lathes, turning centers, VMCs, and HMCs are set up and operated for production. Tooling, fixtures, vises, chucks, and work holding are installed and qualified. Blueprints, GD&T callouts, customer specifications, and work instructions are interpreted. First-piece and in-process inspections are completed to verify tight-tolerance requirements. Micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, height gauges, and indicators are used for inspection. Tooling issues, machine problems, tool wear, and dimensional issues are troubleshot. Production quality is monitored, and offset corrections are made throughout the run. Produce precision, tight-tolerance components Production and quality documentation is completed. A clean, safe, and organized work area is maintained. Teamwork is demonstrated with operators, programmers, engineering, quality, and supervisors. CNC Setup Operator Required Qualifications 3+ years of CNC machining experience is required. 3+ years of blueprint reading experience is required. CNC setup experience on mills, lathes, turning centers, VMCs, and/or HMCs is required. Experience writing programs and making offsets or minor program edits is required. The ability to hold tight tolerances is required. Experience using precision measuring equipment is required. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability are required. A team-player mindset is required. CNC Setup Operator Preferred Qualifications 4-axis, 5-axis, or multi-axis machining experience is preferred. Aerospace, defense, medical, power generation, or high-precision manufacturing experience is preferred. Complex setup or short-run production experience is preferred.
