Responsibilities Program, set up, and operate CNC lathe machines to perform complex machining operations, meeting precise tolerance and finish requirements per engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications. Select, install, align, and secure appropriate fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials; arrange and mount tooling for optimal performance. Read and interpret detailed mechanical drawings, including dimension tolerancing, GD&T, surface textures, and specifications; utilize precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers) for verification. Manually cycle machines to verify setups, check clearances, speeds, feeds, tooling positions, and work holding; adjust offsets, programs, or machine settings to correct deviations and ensure conformance. Perform in-process and final inspections, recognize/report/correct errors, and maintain quality standards throughout production. Conduct routine machine maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and recommend tooling/operational improvements for new or challenging requirements. Clean, deburr, and finish parts to meet production specifications. Collaborate with engineering, quality control, and assembly teams to resolve issues and enhance processes. Adhere to all safety protocols, maintain a clean and organized work environment, and safely operate material handling equipment (e.g., hand carts, jib cranes). Qualifications 2+ years of relevant experience operating and setting up CNC lathes in a production environment (strong foundational knowledge considered for exceptional candidates). High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or 2-year degree in CNC machining, Mechatronics, or related field preferred. Proficiency in basic math (including algebra and geometry), blueprint reading, GD&T, and computer skills. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or collaboratively. Excellent communication skills and commitment to regular, dependable attendance. Physical ability to lift up to 44 pounds, stoop, kneel, reach, and stand for extended periods while following safety guidelines.
