Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Tool and Die Maker/Machinist to join our manufacturing team. This role involves designing, fabricating, and maintaining precision tools, dies, and molds essential for production processes. The successful candidate will utilize advanced machining techniques, CAD/CAM software, and precision measurement instruments to produce high-quality tooling components. This position offers an excellent opportunity for professionals committed to craftsmanship, technical excellence, and continuous improvement in a dynamic manufacturing environment. Duties Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications using GD&T principles to ensure precise fabrication of tools and dies. Operate CNC machines such as CNC lathes and milling machines, programming them with CAM software to produce complex components efficiently. Utilize hand tools, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions and maintain tight tolerances. Fabricate tooling components through welding, fabrication, and assembly processes, including plastics injection molding tools and stamping presses. Program CNC equipment using CAD/CAM software like SolidWorks and AutoCAD to develop accurate machining paths. Conduct electrical discharge machining (EDM) operations for intricate or hard-to-machine parts requiring high precision. Maintain detailed documentation of machining processes, schematics, and inspection reports to ensure quality standards are met. Perform routine maintenance on machinery and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime. Collaborate with design engineers to refine tooling designs for manufacturability and efficiency improvements. Support continuous process improvements by implementing best practices in machining, fabrication, and assembly. Requirements Proven experience as a Tool and Die Maker or Machinist with a strong background in manufacturing environments. Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD; experience with CAM programming is highly desirable. Skilled in CNC programming and operation of CNC lathe and milling machines. Knowledge of GD&T standards for precise measurement and quality control. Experience with electrical discharge machining (EDM), plastics injection molding tooling, stamping presses, welding, and fabrication techniques. Mechanical knowledge related to tooling design, machining processes, assembly, and maintenance. Ability to read schematics, technical drawings, and schematics accurately. Familiarity with precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, dial gauges, and other measurement tools. Strong math skills for calculations related to dimensions, tolerances, and machining parameters. Excellent hand-eye coordination combined with attention to detail in fabrication tasks. Effective communication skills for collaboration across engineering teams. This position is integral to maintaining our high standards of manufacturing excellence. We welcome applicants who are passionate about craftsmanship, technical innovation, and contributing to a forward-thinking production environment.
