CNC Machinist (2nd Shift) Job Description This role focuses on setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC milling and turning equipment to produce precision components that meet strict engineering and quality specifications. You will work primarily on 2nd shift in a modern, clean manufacturing environment, handling setups, program edits, inspections, and adjustments to maintain tight tolerances and consistent part quality. Responsibilities + Set up and operate CNC milling and/or turning machines, including 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis equipment as required. + Operate CNC lathes to perform turning, boring, drilling, threading, and related operations in a safe and efficient manner. + Load, modify, and edit CNC programs at the machine using G and M code to meet part and process requirements. + Perform tool changes, adjust tool offsets, and configure fixtures and workholding to support production and job-shop work. + Review and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T to understand dimensions, tolerances, and required surface finishes. + Estimate hours and effort required for assigned operations based on drawings and specifications. + Inspect parts using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, tape measures, spring gauges, thread gauges, and radius gauges. + Perform first-article inspections and in-process quality checks to ensure parts meet print specifications and tight tolerances (including ±0.001 or tighter when required). + Monitor machine performance and adjust feeds, speeds, and offsets to maintain part quality, cycle times, and process stability. + Utilize shop floor software to record time worked on jobs and support accurate job cost reporting. + Complete daily operator maintenance logs and perform basic preventive maintenance to keep machines in good working condition, reporting any malfunctions promptly. + Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area and follow all safety procedures in a manufacturing environment. + Participate in regular production or Tier 1 meetings with supervisors and collaborate with engineering, quality, and leadership to meet production goals. + Understand what qualifies as a quality product and take ownership of the finished parts produced. + Work with common CNC controls (such as Fanuc, Haas, Okuma, Mitsubishi, and similar) and perform necessary adjustments at the machine. + Troubleshoot machining and tooling To view full details and how to apply, please login or create a Job Seeker account
