Job Description This role supports a busy machine shop that manufactures precision parts used in complex cable assemblies. You will set up and operate CNC and milling machines, interpret blueprints and work orders, and perform visual inspections to ensure high-quality products while maintaining a safe and organized work environment. Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC and milling machines to manufacture parts used in complex cable assemblies. Read and interpret blueprints and work orders to determine correct machine settings, tooling, and production requirements. Perform machine setups as needed, including selecting tools, adjusting offsets, and verifying proper operation before production runs. Conduct visual inspections of parts to verify conformance to specifications and quality standards. Use precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers to check dimensions and tolerances. Apply basic math skills to calculate measurements, offsets, and adjustments during machining operations. Monitor machines during operation and make adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in accordance with shop safety procedures. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve issues related to machine performance, part quality, or production schedules. Follow all documented procedures, work instructions, and safety guidelines while operating equipment. Essential Skills 1-2 years of machining experience in a production or machine shop environment. Hands-on experience operating CNC machines and mills. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work orders. Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and machine adjustments. Experience working in a machine shop setting. Proficiency using precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers. Experience with CNC setup, including tooling and offset adjustments. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts. Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications 3-5 years of machining experience is highly desirable. Previous experience with full machine setup responsibilities. Experience in the cable manufacturing industry is a strong plus. Ability to troubleshoot basic machine issues and make necessary adjustments. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Work Environment This position is based in a machine shop environment focused on producing precision parts for cable assemblies. You will work with CNC machines, mills, and precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers. The facility operates multiple shifts, with a first shift from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and a second shift from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m . The work involves standing for extended periods, working around running machinery, and following established safety procedures. The environment emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and safe operation of equipment, with appropriate work attire required for a manufacturing shop setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Peabody, MA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
