Precision CNC Lathe Operator & Setup Technician Double E Group West Bridgewater, MA Job Details $30 - $35 an hour 11 hours ago Qualifications Shop math CNC G-code Programming Full Job Description A day in this role You'll run CNC lathes in a fast-paced, high-mix production setting where 5+ changeovers per day are the norm.
Your focus:
plan and group jobs to streamline setups, complete efficient changeovers, and deliver a flawless first piece before releasing the run. What you'll do Operate CNC turning equipment in a high-volume, high-mix environment (expect 5 or more daily changeovers). Analyze the queue, group similar work, and minimize setup time to maximize workflow and machine utilization. Perform rapid, accurate machine setups and verify readiness before production begins. Execute first-piece inspections using visual checks and hand metrology tools including Vernier calipers, micrometers, and drop dial indicators. Partner closely with your Supervisor and Application Engineering/Programming to communicate observations and implement process improvements. Mount, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and workpieces using hand tools and precision measuring instruments. Pause machines to remove completed parts or to change tooling, adjust setups, and reposition workpieces per the required machining sequence. Transfer programs from servers to CNC controllers via network links and confirm the correct revision is active. Monitor cutting fluids and lubrication to ensure parts are properly cooled and lubricated during operations. Interpret blueprints and program specs to set operations, sequences, and finished dimensions, including numerical control sequences. Other duties as assigned. What you need Some CNC programming experience. Competence with basic math (add, subtract, multiply, divide). Ability to read and comprehend instructions; clear basic verbal communication. Capability to lift, push, pull, and position components up to 50 lbs. Stamina to stand for an entire 8-10 hour shift. Team-oriented mindset and dependable work habits. Education & experience 3+ years in a machine shop, or 1+ year with a vocational school background. Familiarity with basic machining practices and materials is a plus; general mechanical aptitude is beneficial.
