Production Job Summary:
As a Machine Operator , you'll operate, maintain, and monitor woodworking machinery, such as CNC routers, panel saws, and edge banders, to produce high-quality wood components for high end architectural millwork.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up and operate various woodworking machines, according to production specifications and safety guidelines.
  • Select, load, and unload materials, such as wood, veneer, and laminate, ensuring the correct materials are used for each work order.
  • Read and interpret blueprints technical drawings, and work order instructions to ensure accurate cuts and assembly.
  • Interpret design files (CAD/CAM), blueprints, and work orders to create or adjust machine programs, including setting zero and reference points, tool offsets, and fixture setups.
  • Monitor machine performance, inspect finished products for quality and accuracy, and use precision measuring tools like calipers and micrometers to verify specifications. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
Safety Compliance :
Adhere to safety protocols and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
    Machine Operations :
    Monitor and adjust settings as needed to optimize performance, minimize waste, and maintain product quality and tool life.
      Machine Maintenance :
      Troubleshoot equipment issues and routine maintenance and cleaning of machinery to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
        Quality Control :
        Perform quality control inspections on finished parts to check for defects, imperfections, and inconsistencies, using precision measuring tools.
          Teamwork and Collaboration :
          Working effectively with team members, communication, and contributing to a positive work environment.
            Dependability and Punctuality :
            Arrive on time, complete tasks as scheduled, and being reliable.
            • Adherence to company policies and procedures : Understanding and following established rules and guidelines.
            Qualifications & Skills:
            High school diploma or equivalent. 3+ years' experience as a Machine Operator in a manufacturing environment, preferably with woodworking or cabinet components. Experience with specific machines such as CNC routers, panel saws, and edge banders is highly desirable. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings accurately. Basic knowledge of tooling for the millwork industry. Ability to compute basic mathematics principles including addition, subtraction, read a tape measure and converting inches/mm.
            Physical Requirements:
            • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods
            • Prolonged standing 8+ hours per day
            • Unconditioned manufacturing environment for 8+ hours per day
            • Continued use of hands to handle, control, feel objects, tools, and / or controls 8+ hours per day
            • Prolonged exposure to hazardous equipment
