2nd Shift CNC Operator MagTech Shelby Charter Township, MI Job Details Full-time | Contract $20 - $22 an hour 14 hours ago Qualifications Mechanical blueprint interpretation Blueprint specification interpretation Equipment troubleshooting High school diploma or GED Dimensional measurements Precision measurement in machining CNC G-code Programming Technical troubleshooting support Mechanical troubleshooting Production troubleshooting Full Job Description Magtech is seeking experienced CNC Setup Operators for 2nd shift to join our manufacturing team supporting CNC Lathe and VTM operations. This role is ideal for candidates with experience ranging from machine operation and tool changes to full machine setup responsibilities. Depending on experience level, candidates may support production operations, machine setups, troubleshooting, first-piece inspections, and process improvements. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, and the ability to maintain quality and production standards while working independently or as part of a team. Key Responsibilities Operate CNC lathes and/or VTM machines performing turning operations on steel, cast iron, and aluminum components. Load raw materials and monitor machine operations to ensure quality production output. Perform machine setups including tooling installation, fixture setup, offset adjustments, and program loading. Change turning tools, drills, inserts, and mills as required. Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, setup sheets, and work instructions. Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauges. Make necessary machine or offset adjustments to maintain part quality and dimensional accuracy. Troubleshoot machining and setup issues including tooling wear, machine offsets, and part deviations. Display understanding of G-code and M-code functions including spindle speeds, coolant functions, tool calls, and rotational direction. Collaborate with CNC programmers, quality personnel, supervisors, and operators to improve machining efficiency and workflow. Assist in training and supporting less experienced operators during setups and production runs. Record production data, downtime, and quality information using the
PLEX ERP
system. Perform routine preventative maintenance and maintain clean, organized work areas. Follow all company safety policies and manufacturing procedures. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Trade school or technical certification preferred. 1-5+ years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience with CNC Lathe and/or VTM equipment preferred. Setup experience strongly preferred for higher-level candidates. Required Skills & Experience Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. Understanding of GD&T and precision measurement techniques. Experience using measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, indicators, and gauges. Basic to intermediate knowledge of G-code and M-code programming. Experience with CNC controls such as Fanuc, Haas, Mazak, or similar preferred. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Pay:
$20.00 - $22.00 per hour Application Question(s): Can you work 3pm-1130pm second shift? Do you have direct experience setting up CNC mills or lathes? Can you adjust feeds at the controller? Do you have experience with Fanuc controllers?
