Job Title:
CNC Lathe Operator Job Description This role operates Fanuc-controlled CNC lathes and machining centers to produce precision industrial parts. The position focuses on safe and efficient machine operation, accurate in-process inspection, and basic program adjustments to ensure high-quality components are delivered consistently. Responsibilities Operate Fanuc-controlled CNC lathes and machining centers to manufacture precision industrial parts. Perform tool changes and adjust tool offsets to maintain part quality and dimensional accuracy. Make minor CNC program edits as needed to optimize machining processes and correct issues. Read and interpret engineering blueprints to determine machining requirements and specifications. Use micrometers, calipers, gages, and other inspection tools to perform in-process and final quality checks. Follow quality control and quality inspection procedures to ensure parts meet required tolerances and standards. Work with CNC machinery, including lathes and mills, in a machine shop environment. Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot machining issues and improve processes. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with shop standards. Handle industrial machinery with care and follow all safety guidelines and shop practices. Essential Skills Minimum of 2 years of CNC lathe experience. Proficiency operating CNC lathes, including Fanuc-controlled machines. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and machine drawings. Strong skills using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments. Experience performing in-process inspection and quality control checks. Ability to perform tool changes and adjust offsets on CNC machines. Basic ability to make program edits on Fanuc-controlled CNC equipment. Comfort working with industrial machinery and CNC machining processes. Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts. Ability to work safely and maintain a clean, organized work area. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience working with CNC Swiss machines. Experience setting up CNC lathes or Swiss machines. Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing). Experience in a job shop environment producing a variety of industrial parts. Blueprint reading expertise in a machine shop setting. Background in CNC milling and general CNC machining. Strong inspection skills using micrometers, calipers, and gages in a quality control environment. Why Work Here? Work Environment This is a job shop environment with approximately 40 team members, specializing in machining industrial parts using CNC lathes, CNC mills, and Fanuc-controlled equipment. The facility, while somewhat dated, is well maintained, clean, and recently expanded to support continued growth. Work takes place in a traditional machine shop setting around industrial machinery, where employees are expected to keep their areas clean, follow safety procedures, and wear appropriate shop attire and protective equipment suitable for machining operations. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Maple Grove, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
