Job Title:
CNC Operator Job Description The CNC Operator sets up and runs existing CNC programs, handles raw materials and finished parts, and ensures consistent quality throughout production. This role closely monitors machine operation, performs basic inspections using standard measuring tools, and communicates issues promptly to support efficient and safe manufacturing. The position requires strong attention to detail, a commitment to quality, and adherence to all safety policies and procedures in a large plant environment. Responsibilities Load and run existing CNC programs under supervision, ensuring machines operate according to established parameters. Load raw material into CNC machines and safely unload finished parts after production runs. Monitor machine operation during production runs to identify and address any irregularities or potential issues. Inspect parts using basic measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify conformance to specifications. Read and follow blueprints, work orders, and production instructions to complete jobs accurately. Communicate any machine issues, quality concerns, or production delays to a lead or supervisor in a timely manner. Use hand tools and basic assembly skills as needed to support machining and finishing processes. Measure and mark materials using a tape measure and other basic tools to prepare for machining. Apply a basic understanding of feeds, speeds, and tooling to support efficient machine operation. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with plant standards. Follow all safety policies, procedures, and guidelines while operating equipment and moving materials. Support general labor tasks within the production area as needed to meet schedule and quality requirements. Essential Skills 1-3 years of CNC setup and operation experience preferred. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work orders. Comfort using standard measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, and gauges. Basic understanding of feeds, speeds, and tooling for CNC machining. Ability to use a tape measure accurately for layout and verification. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts. Ability to stand and walk for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs as needed. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a large plant environment that is not temperature controlled, so conditions may vary with the seasons. Team members are expected to stand and walk for long periods, stoop as needed, and lift up to 50 lbs on a non-repetitive basis. The position includes both first and second shift opportunities. First shift runs Monday through Thursday from 5:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with Friday and Saturday currently mandatory on the same shift. Second shift runs Monday through Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., with Friday and Saturday also currently mandatory on the same shift. The environment is production-focused, with active machinery and equipment, and requires consistent adherence to safety procedures and appropriate work attire suitable for an industrial plant. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Grenada, MS. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
